Punta Punta Surf Retreat

Habíamos reservado la suite deluxe con vistas al océano, lamentablemente cuando llegamos nos dieron una que no tenía vistas al mar, al reclamar nos informaron que no tenían ninguna con vista al mar, no solo eso sino que además nos dieron una habitación con cero privacidad ya que daba directamente al bar y al acceso del personal a la cocina. La solución del dueño era devolvernos la plata, sabiendo que ya habíamos llegado hasta allí y que no había disponibilidad en otro sitio con vista al mar. Su única respuesta era que tenía buenas críticas en booking, como si eso solucionara el problema de que no nos estaban ofreciendo lo que contratamos.

Nothing! It was all we needed and more

The personnel was friendly and easily approachable. The food was very good, diverse range of meals, all super tasty!

The tent we slept in had a beautiful view on the ocean, waking up with the sounds of the waves was lovely. However the tent itself was a bit mouldy on some spots and one of the zippers didn’t function properly.

Super helpful and friendly staff. Loved the location: outside of the busy center, but still really easy to get everywhere.

A beautiful villa fit for a family of 6-7 people, big kitchen space, “lounge room” and dining area. Comfortable beds, with stylish furniture and open floor plan. AC works well upstairs and in second bedroom. The staff were very accommodating during our stay, and had good facilities such as a bar, plant based food options for breakfast and during the day snacks, group yoga classes upon request, a small pool central of the retreat and laundry services. Very happy with how excellent the staff were for our family!

Location: The location of the retreat is hidden away from essential facilities, food/bar, all shops etc. but tricycles may pass by and take you around - Otherwise we hired a scooter for roughly 400peso a day to get around the travel. Limited AC units: In our deluxe family villa, there was no aircon in the main lounge room area which can become quite warm very easily - There are no window coverings on the sides of the building and so the sun warms up the room from morning to evening. Same goes for the upstairs room where there is no window shade on the side window so the room will become warm if you don’t leave the AC on all day. Electricity issue: Caution with using the main lights or too much electricity as the main lights will start to flicker - This is unavoidable as the villa is on a shared electricity grid with the other accommodation. Kitchen: If you plan to cook in the family villa, keep in mind that the retreat has VERY limited utensils/cutlery, plates and bowls, pans and pots. This was frustrating for our family as we planned to cook everyday for 6 pax. STAIRS!!: Please please be mindful if children come to this villa as there are NO stairs going to the main sleeping quarters upstairs. This stopped our older family members from going upstairs at all due to the fear of falling. This would be a major safety concern for children willing to climb, or someone afraid of heights. I did not notice this in the photos for the Villa and should be included in the description of the master bedroom.
