Reconnect - Private Island Resort & Dive Center Togean - Buka Buka Island

We had a wonderful stay at Buka Buka. The bungalows were very cozy, and the food was absolutely amazing. We also enjoyed some great snorkeling during our stay. On our last day, we were lucky enough to spot two turtles and three baby sharks, which made the experience even more special. Highly recommended! 💕✌🏽

Reconnect was always part of our Sulawesi plan, and we’re so glad we didn’t shorten the trip. This place is truly special. It’s incredibly rare to find calm waters, a vibrant house reef, and fine sandy beaches all in one destination—Reconnect delivers all three effortlessly. The coastal transfer drive is stunning, and check-in/out were seamless. The design is tasteful and relaxed, with artistic touches, hammocks, and direct access to an exceptionally healthy reef in the heart of the Coral Triangle. It reminded us of the understated elegance of Soneva Maldives and Four Seasons Resort Bora Bora, yet it feels wonderfully secluded. The staff are genuinely warm and attentive. A day trip to the Togean Islands was phenomenal—spectacular reefs and pristine beaches. Food is buffet-style but thoughtfully curated (quality over quantity), with good vegetarian options and a well-stocked bar. Snorkeling is excellent and will be even better once the new jetty is completed. If anything, more landscaping would enhance the grounds—but this already feels like a hidden sanctuary. A true home away from home. We will return.

One area for improvement would be enhanced landscaping. More gardens and refined walking paths would elevate the experience further. That said, we understand Thomas & Family is already working on this, so it feels more like a “watch this space” than a complaint.

Nice location near main land and lovely sunset view.

A lot of very big spiders especially when raining. We told the staff and they didn’t do anything at first until we had them come back removing 8 big spiders in 1 night. We paid a lot for this to happen. Further, we experienced lack of food at the buffet if we arrived 15 minutes late. All service was on extra charge. Will not recommend, mainly due to spiders and not been taken seriously.

- The glamping tents are not comfortable (no mosquito net, insects, and cleaning could be improved) - snorkelling is disappointing compared to other spots we did in Togean islands - The boat transfer from other islands can be long and tiring - a lot of huge spiders in the tents and commun areas (glamping area - I don’t know for villas) - For short stays, the value for money isn’t ideal

Ein paradiesischer Ort zum Entspannen. Freundliches Personal, gutes Essen und eine harmonische Stimmung. Bei Roger absolvierten wir einen Auffrischungskurs für Tauchen. Absolut toll. Wir fühlten uns sicher und gut aufgehoben. Sehr schöne Korallenriffe. Wir kommen wieder!
