Marcela Resort & Spa

Have stayed in 15 different resorts and condos in the last 10 years of going to Puerto Vallarta and this one is close to the top of the list. Place is quiet, grounds are beautiful, staff is wonderful and rooms are clean. We will return. Highly recommend.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Marcela.

I had the 1 bedroom bay view unit. It was like staying in a nice AirBnb but inside a resort. Pros: The view was beautiful and the grounds were immaculately kept. The unit was very clean and had exactly what you would expect, nothing more and nothing less. It is up in the hills above the party areas of Zona Romantica, so the nights were pretty quiet and you could sleep with windows open. I didn't feel like there were many people there, so often, it felt like I had the resort to myself. Cons: Mostly the prices. The room charge is a little on the high end, but also drinks were pretty expensive. The spa services were incredibly high, so I did not use them. I think they're cheaper if you book direct with them. I had dinner at the restaurant once, and it was fine, but I had much higher-end meals with more imaginative cocktails off the resort at about the same price. To note: A very busy street crosses in front of the resort. To get down to ZR, you have to cross it. From there, you can walk along that busy street down the hill, which didn't feel super safe, or you can go down a very long corridor of steps. You could probably call an Uber, too. You're technically close to ZR, but the trek makes it feel like you're not all that close to the party. If you're there for the night life, you'll want to stay closer.

We had a wonderful stay at the Marcela Resort and Spa. Nobody in our group used the spa services but we loved everything about our suite. The layout was very functional and allowed us to have meals together as a family (8 people in total) and there were plenty of places where everyone could sit and relax either on our patio or at the pool. Having a dishwasher and laundry machines in the suite was so handy for a large group. Showers were a bit chillier than we're used to (hot water wasn't hot) but it just meant we didn't waste water! ;) The food at the Marcelita restaurant was exceptional and every staff member we interacted with were all very pleasant. Just be prepared to walk a lot of stairs! It was manageable for our group... however if anyone has mobility issues it would be impossible to get around unassisted. Overall, not the cheapest place you could find, but it was worth every penny for our family and exceeded expectations.

Great views and big rooms and spaces. Overall amazing property ground and pool area. If you are a full sun-lover, not the best as the pool has only partial sun in some spots etc, amazing of you like sitting in the shade and enjoying the view and pool etc, so it was perfect for us. 2nd BDRM in the 2bed suite (Hortensia/4) want great. Just a double and not that new or flat, so for an adult couple it would not be my choice next time, not to mention the window into the stairway which could be loud as ppl came home at night. Otherwise everything was great, living/dining/kitchen/laundry was all excellent. Main suite was big and beautiful.

Nestled in the hills, our charming three-bedroom suite showcased traditional Mexican style and was truly delightful. The staff went above and beyond, attending to every detail with exceptional care and attentiveness.

We had a great stay at Marcela Resort. The rooms were comfortable, clean, and quiet. The resort is conveniently located near the beach and grocery stores. The staff were friendly, and both the food and the bar were excellent.

Probably the best place I've ever stayed! Beautiful grounds, friendly staff, huge rooms and outdoor space. Unbelievable value for money! We will be back as often as possible.

Amazing place, highly recommend. Quick walk to town and beach. Suite was phenomenal with clean rooms, fully stocked kitchen and stunning views. We ate at the restaurant for many meals, great service and dishes were delicious. the front desk uses WhatsApp to communicate which I thought was very quick and convenient. The spa was also very nice. Overall would definitely visit again.
