Marcela Resort & Spa

The location was great for anyone willing to walk uphill a little bit--easily walkable to all the restaurants and the beach, but just up the hill, so it's more peaceful and quiet. Facilities were great and very spacious, with the only negative being 1 of our 3 bathrooms didn't have shower curtains. The staff was super helpful and nearly always accessible via Whatsapp!

Upon first impressions the property is beautiful and the staff is very nice. A/C didn't seem to be working much at all. The A/C in the room didn't seem to work and it took about 5-6 minutes for the water to get even warm in the shower. The location is great in that it is close to everything in Zona Romantica, but very sketchy trying to cross the highway upon leaving the property. Also, the lack of an elevator or ramp to get out of the property is a miss as those steps do get old! Also the TV turned on but doesn't have smart tv capabilities and no cable, local channels, etc. Just a black screen. The staff gave some bad intel which unfortunately ruined one of my day's itinerary. All in all this could have been a great stay with a few small tweaks. Keep on working on those and this would be superb!

Beautiful grounds, great pool area and a view of the ocean from pool ecen though notclosetobeach. Great value for the money.

First the pros: we rented a two-bedroom apartment-type set-up that was beautifully decorated in a Mexican folk-art type style: the views of the beaches and Puerto Vallarta were stunning. It's a large, spacious, comfortable setting. BUT the service leaves a lot to be desired. At least two of the days we were driven out by incredibly loud drilling and other construction noise, which went on most of the day. So much for being able to relax. No way to relax in the shower, as the water temperature was erratic and impossible to regulate. And the maid service apparently is only available in the morning, so if you feel like sleeping in and lounging around after cooking brunch in the well-stocked kitchen, you will not get your room cleaned or the towels replaced. I think we only got maid service once during the five days. Very bizarre policy. And speaking of towels, our place was very well stocked with towels of all shapes and sizes, but they make you sign a paper stating you will not take any towels to the beach. A cheap and aggravating policy, as then you are forced to buy towels at the beach or do without. All in all, all of these annoyances really add up.

This place was awesome. I saw photos and looked nice but in person it is one of the best places i have stayed at. Staff is so friendly and helpful and the room was like from a movie. We loved it and next time will take my wife who unfortunately could not go with us. Thank you all at Marcelas.
