South Mountain Resort

Such a beautiful resort nestled in the mountain which offers beautiful sunsets most evenings. The pool is amazing with plenty of sun loungers. The restaurant on site is beautiful with a wide range of food options to suit everyone’s taste. The staff are amazing and incredibly helpful from the reception staff to the restaurant staff and the maintenance team everyone was incredibly friendly and helpful.

If you are planning on staying here ensure you can ride a scooter. It is roughly a 20 minute tuktuk along a very bumpy road and the prices of transport adds up if you can’t drive a scooter. The resort has them to rent onsite which is very helpful.

A little of the beaten track but easy to hire a moped or even a tuck tuk as they have one to hire. Also easy to order a tuk tuk

Up a huge hill and nothing in walking distance

The swimming pool is outstanding and the views are incredible.

- The rooms are very basic and not per se clean, there are food smells and the bathroom smells. - We had a suspicion of bed bugs. The staff was kind enough to allow us to change rooms after we asked for it. Other than that they seemed not to take any further action: no checking of the bed, no additional cleaning actions and no help with regards to cleaning all clothes / bags to prevent spreading. - Staff service is below par: we rented a scooter but at arrival it wasn’t arranged, the scooter was outdated and it came with horse riding / mountain bike helmets, they overcharge for transport (750 PHP to the port, where we arranged it with little negotiation there for 400 PHP). - There are several reviews mentioning crows attacking themselves in the mirroring of the windows. This happened every morning in the two rooms we stayed at around 06.00 in the morning. - I would recommend the hotel to invest in cleanliness and service of the staff, addressing customer concerns to turn this around. The place in itself with the views and swimming pool have huge potential.

Very quietly located, with nice views over the ocean. In the morning you just hear the birds, no dogs or roosters crying. The pillows on the bed are amazing. Great food in the restaurant. Some very friendly dogs. The best pool we had in all of The Philippines.

We were prepared and rented a scooter on arrival in the harbour since some trike drivers are not willing to bring you up the steep mountain road. So it was not a thing for us, but be aware of this.
