LA SELVA Resort, Pench National Park

This was my second visit to the property and i always enjoy with my family. Food was the highlight. Resort is deep inside the jungle and is kind of a digital detox for the family and my 3 year old toddler. Swimming pool is lovely for this weather.

The location is very peaceful. If you are looking for digital detoxification - this is the place to be! No TV and our mobile phones didnt work either (not complaining)! We were a large group (14) with all age groups, including Senior citizens, Kids, Teenagers. Everyone loved the Chalet style of staying and enjoyed the property very much, especially the swimming pool. As there were not many activities to do (swimming pool, pool table and table tennis table along with board games in the reception Area) - we made the most of the limited choices. It helped all of us to spend quality time with each other. Food was good, comprising of mostly traditional North/Central Indian cuisine. During breakfast - idli & vada was served one day. Paneer & Chicken along with one vegetarian option was the staple. We went for Safari too but unfortunately the tigers decided to stay deep in the jungle that day, and we returned with sightings of Bisons, Wild Boars and different species of Deers. That said - it was fun!

Cleanliness - if I have to improve one thing, this would be the area. It's a make-or-break aspect for us and to-be-honest, we were not impressed with the cleanliness of the Chalets. Room and shower curtains were all stained, the granite wall in the shower and wash-basin areas were full of soap marks. It was evident that the rooms are not thoroughly cleaned in between the occupancies. The room itself wasn't clean on the 1st day, and I stayed with the house keeping staff the next day to get the room cleaned thoroughly. I was surprised to learn that the rooms were never vacuumed, just dry mop gets used. The towels and linens were also of not very good quality. Especially towels, as they kept leaving threads on the body as we used them. I requested them to be replaced with good towels but alas - the replacements were of same bad quality. Food - We stayed for 3 nights/4 days, so after 2-days - the food started to feel repetitive. Value for money - we paid quite alot for our 3-night stay (more than 2.2 lakh) and we expected quite a lot from the property. When a resort charges you more than 5000 a night (per person), it better live up to it and we felt that we didnt get the value for the money we paid. We have stayed in resorts all over the world so speaking with experience in this area. Overall, the property has alot of potential and if the owners/operators pay attention to basics, small changes can deliver big value. Clean rooms and linens, choices of more activities, wifi access across the property and food menus with varieties itself will improve the experience by couple of notches.

Location was peaceful, totally cut off feom outside world

Hygiene was average at best with spots on floor, dirty furniture and not so clean linen. Food options at buffet were limited(3-4 veg options) for the amount they charge. Food quality was still alright.
