Caldera Creta Paradise

We looked for a comfort hotel that would be a base for trips around western Crete. Caldera Creta Paradise is convenently located on the outskirts of Platanias where you can basically find anything you want during your vacation. If you need a car, there is good car rental company desk at the lobby. Next to the hotel there are also convenient stores if you need to do some shopping. The beach is sandy mixed with small stones. You just jump off from the hotel directly to it. As you can imagine from this type of beach, the water is not perfectly clear, but perfect for swiming anyway. Free sunbeds are awaiting there for you. Food is real advantage of the hotel. There is variety of great meals to choose from, you always find some seafood, choice of fish plus must have dishes like spaghetti for those who prefer. I always look for some local tastes when visiting places arround the world. Greek & Cretan dishes are also always there. Last but not least, meals are tasty, well seasoned, good job restasurant staff! We had all-inclusive option, which is worth the money in my opinion. Drinks and coctails at the bar are prepared with branded alcohols, there is snack bar serving hot dishes, salads, sandwitches between main meals, which helps when you missed out you lunch or diner due to Samaria Gorge trip, etc. But most importantly, the hotel staff is helpful, smiled and trying to make your vacation better experience. If you need something extra (we changed the room to different one with better view from the balcony), need any help, they are are always there for you!

1.Rooms description vs. reality. Gaden view could be sometimes street view. We looked for peaceful place and quiet room within hotel complex, unfortunately it was hard to figure out when making reservation which is the one to choose. Finally, reception staff managed to change the room we initially received to the one we wanted (thank you Caldera staff!) 2.The hotel shares the area with it's sibling (?) hotel Caldera Beach. When you view photos of the hotel at Booking, you can find shots of the other hotel spots, which makes it a bit confusing when you are already there. Yes, there are signs when you pass from one to another, and nobody makes any issue if you sit at the other hotel pool. It took us two days however to figure out what belongs to our hotel and what doesn't. We even went to the other hotel restaurant and had lunch there. No one throw us away ;-D 3.If you are a beer fan, you'd rather go to local store and get some Mythos instead of the one included in all-inclusive, which is definitely below expectation

I didn't like that there wasn't good sports facilities for adults. There is a tennis court for those who play tennis. That takes so much space, for occasionally 2 people playing ... the gym was symbolic (I had to sneak into Crete Beach's gym which is better) and no outdoor exercise equipment. It would be great, if there was some sort of small and simple outdoors gym. Would need 5 square meters.

Minigolf was gedurende ons verblijf volgeboekt. Indringende geur in de kamer.
