"All was great"

9.0

The staff was super friendly, the owners very nice. I had the pool for myself :) The food is very nice and everyday different options to choose from. The portions are also big, we really enjoyed dinners and lunch. The excursions are also amazing, the location is just ideal. You get to see sunrises and sunsets.

"Superb"

Very refreshing swimming pool, nice white beaches and great friendly staff. You can dive in all directions from this place! Great pick-up service and drop-off until your room Bobby was the best captain!!

The lunch is normally always fish and rice which we liked but maybe not everyone.

"Definitely go to Raja Ampat - but stay elsewhere"

5.0

-Location: diving in Raja Ampat is great. But that goes for any accommodation in that region. -Tranquility: no annoying โ€˜live entertainmentโ€™ singing 'Feelings' and Abba songs... :-)

-Dive guides are assigned & we told ours we wanted a half-day next day, he said only full day was available. Next morning we saw a 2nd boat w/ tanks for a half day. We told the manager that information was omitted, he replied that otherwise the hotel wouldnโ€™t fill the minimum for a full-day trip!!($). We asked manager to switch, he grumpily told us to speak to the guide, who knew little English and said โ€˜he was only an employeeโ€™. -Dives are organized at dinner, guides must awkwardly watch guests eating and find time to talk to them, until the next-day dives are finalized. -Only one of the dive guides seems to be a professional. None went over signaling during briefings. Only one checked for our air during dives. One broke a big fern coral by accident. -With a no-credit-card rule, prices of dives & extras should be mentioned on the resortโ€™s website so guests can plan. https://www.coveecoresort.com, highly recommended to us, has full information. -When we didnโ€™t show up on time for a briefing on our exhausting arrival day, we were picked up at the room. I thought it must be about essential safety & such. It was 90% bad marketing, and 10% safety/house rules. There is a better way to convey information to guests. -Issues with guests are discussed at dinner (e.g. our complaint about the pee-smell in the bathroom โ€“ an appetizing talk), instead of in private. -The photos on the hotel website make the rooms look simple but classy. We booked the best available. Our room was barebones-youth-hostel-level & impractical. Booking.com shows various levels in terms of bed-type and amenities, but didnโ€™t expect some rooms to be nice(?), and others decrepit. -Not a criticism, but to manage expectations: beach is full of sharp coral debris; water full of jellyfish. A guest was told they don't sting - I assure you they do. -Food on island is tricky & wasnโ€™t bad except for undercooked shrimp w/ uncleaned poop.

"Loved Raja Ampat"

7.0

We loved our snorkelling excursions and our guide Jeffery was great. Beautiful island and cute resident cats. Bungalows were spacious. Did their best to accommodate vegetarian menu. Good location with lots of day trip options available They schedule the next day trips at dinner the night before, I would suggest telling them the first day there which spots you would like to go to during your stay so that if youโ€™re on a shorter stay than others they might be able to prioritized those excursion

Wi-Fi did not reach most bungalows Food was not bad, but was not very exciting and couldโ€™ve used a bit more flavour especially for vegetarian.

"Paradise island with great hospitality"

9.0

Located on the small isolated island in Raja Ampat this resort really feels like getaway into heaven- beautiful sandy beaches, coral reef at the doorstep, comfortable rooms, tasty and plentiful meals and most of all - great Italian hospitality- Renato and the team made us feel welcome and pampered every step of the way! Diving was exquisite too- starting from house island reef where you can find turtles and black tip sharks, 15 min boat ride to gorgeous lush coral reef on the neighbouring Mansuar island with little local village was bursting with life incl. pigmy sea horses, multiple nudi branches, scorpion fish and more, 40 min boat tide to Kri island and sand banks where we were lucky to see huge oceanic Manta and finally 1 hr boat ride to famous Piaynemo islands for the view to remember! Thank you, Augusta resort team, for amazing Raja Ampat experience!

"Great stay for a few nights. Good value for the money, but room for improvement"

8.0

Agusta Eco Resort is located on small private Island - Agusta Island. Transport to the Island is included in the price with a min. stay of 4 nights. From Waisai Port it takes about an hour to Agusta. Arriving there, you be greeted at the private pier with a welcome drink. The dive equipment is being stowed away in the dive shop's own storage room (individual, private baskets), and the lugguage is being brought to the room. We stayed at a superior suite and couldn't think what that the deluxe rooms would set apart from our suite. The room was nice and spacious, the bed was comfortable (firm mattress) and it offered a private toilet and outside shower with hot water. The room featured a mini-fridge that contained a bottle of water to be used in the resort and to be refilled. MEALS Breakfast was standard with toast, butter and spreads. Local fresh fruit was offered. Some Asian noodle dish and, upon order, eggs were served. During the dive trips (the resort has 3 or 4 own dive boats) we always were served fresh fruit, cake, water and tea and stayed long enough on land to walk across the small islands we stopped at. On those days we stayed at the resort (no diving), Lunch was good, too. DIVING The dive school as well as instructors were great. They listened and tried to fulfill all of our wishes in terms of dive sites and what we wanted to see. Diving itself is great in Raja Ampat. We gotten to see huge schools of fish, all sorts of reef fish, turtles (green and hawksbill), reef sharks (black and white tip) as well as Mantas. I found it excellent service when I was offered a spare mask and heel straps for my fins as my mask broke down and my fins didn't fit properly. VALUE FOR THE MONEY Price-wise the Agusta Eco Resort is a bit far out there (in the western world I would expect really good service and quality for the room price), but it is one of the better ones.

MEALS To me the meals were ok but there is much room to improve. The variety is very small with them offering some greens paired with fish or chicken. The greens were not seasoned and tasteless, while the protein options were almost always too dry to eat. Highlight was the handmade pasta that was offered with every meal. Over all, the food was plentiful and we never felt we didn't get enough to eat. DIVE EQUIPMENT I have seen dive equipment that was worse and that was better maintained than the equipment at Agusta. But, when we asked for snorkels, but they seems either old and dusty or some even moldy. Bring your own mask and snorkel if you plan on snorkeling around the island. I didn't have to deal with any rental equipment, my friend however, was happy with what she got.
