Hotel Grand Phenix Okushiga

The lounge is absolutely the highlight, here the Grand Phenix shares three things with you: great local draft beer, a gentle Okushiga snowing view, and a warm firepit. This lounge is so special that you can wait for your dinner table (because of the tight reservation in Christmas season) there while drinking your drinks by a bonfire, this even makes waiting a wonderful experience...

While the pastas served in the Italian restaurant are great, the main courses can be improved.

I never experienced such VIP service otherwise in the world. Whole reception teams demonstrated what extraordinary service should be. I arrived late by bus and was welcomed by one receptionist in bus stop. so I did not need to carry my luggage in the snowing road. They even opened the ski rental shop for me after working hour. The next morning, I missed public shuttle bus and they offered to use hotel shuttle bus to drive me over to ski lift in Yakebitaiyama without reservation in advance. I felt that I was living with a lot of friends instead of living in hotel. I was too tired to try the bar at night, and I would like to try it next time. Swimming pool was good with quite warm water. Hot bathing place with best view. Sun rising over snow mountain top. Breakfast was very good with many variations. The dinner I ordered was pork hotpot, and personally I think the starter tasted better and pork meat is okay. I will try something else next time. All in all, the service and room condition are all top.

Be aware of google route suggestion. sometimes the time is not precise and should expect much longer connection time. But it is not with Hotel. They helped me to find the correct bus time luckily.

Incredible service and incredible overall experience. It's like staying in a fancy cabin in the snow. The lounge area with the giant fireplace is awesome, very nice food, very spacious rooms and first class facilities such as the onsens and indoor swimming pool. The decor could be interpreted as dated (as other reviews have stated) but we felt this simply adds to the warmth and cosiness of the establishment. The service here is seriously next level and it is fantastic value for money.

The staff were great and it really made the different! Everyone was super friendly. We really enjoyed our visits to the bar and the bartender. He was very professional and kind. The food at the restaurants was good. We're definitely savings this place to revisit again soon!

The rooms are slightly outdated but it's part of the charm.

Great location in close proximity of the ski slopes, yet quiet and pristine surroundings. Excellent facilities for ‘one-stop-shop’ skiing.

Our room had some unpleasant smells from the bathroom at times but other than that the stay was perfect!

Nice location and food. but most of all we liked the people working there, especially the person that runs the ski shop
