Utalay Koh Chang Villas

Upgraded to a pool villa which was wonderful. Good communication, helpful organisation, excellent location, spacious villa. Perfect.

The rooms are comfortable, although a bit bare - no chairs in most of them, so you sit on the bed or on the floor. Beds were very comfortable. Very close to the beach, where the Beach House is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Kitchen has basic utensils, cutlery etc, and all rooms have a water heater, cups etc, as well as tea and coffee. Bathrooms are clean and showers are hot, cold or whichever way you want them. Internet is reliable and acceptably fast. Resort is safe. Very friendly and helpful owners/staff

Location - it's close to the ferry, but that's about all it's close to - the closest concentration of eateries, grocery stores etc. is 4-5 kms away, meaning you need to rent a motorbike to get there. This part of the island is wild, and the road is winding and with steep slopes, so not for the faint of heart. The villa itself is designed as four autonomous bedrooms, not as a classical villa with four bedrooms accessed from a central living room or hallway. This means that, apart from those sleeping in the bedroom attached to the small living room/kitchenette, other guests need to climb outside stairs or take a garden path to the other three bedrooms. Not ideal if you are staying with small children.

Excellent location - great beach, guarded community, responsive service - they helped us rent 2 new bikes with pretty small deposit and those bikes were transported directly to our place - that's super cool! Great place with awesome pool.

Wifi on the second floor was super weak (like 2% of its power on the first floor)

Spacious, clean accomodation with the bonus of a good size (and depth) private pool. Well equipped villa. Resort was beautiful with some good places to eat and a large swimming pool. Staff were very helpful and booked us a golf buggy to the nearest 7-11 (100 baht each way). Beach areas were clean and pretty. Kayaking was fun. Air-conditioning worked well and property was light with nice views. Rooms were all large with lots of storage.

I would like to warn others of the unusual villa layout. It suited our family but I can imagine it would not be great for òther groups. One twin bedroom can only be accessed by walking through a double bedroom and then through an open plan shower room and toilet. There are no doors to lock - just the 2 sliding doors either side of the shower/toilet. The other double room is upstairs - accessed through a lounge (where there's a sofa bed) and then outside across a balcony and into another part of the villa. Not ideal for children.
