The Baths Natural Hot Springs

Lovely pools and baths, great convenience store and sweet store staff

We booked a very expensive flat which in the description said private entrance, outdoor furniture, outdoor dining space and braai. Only to find out the private entrance is not the case, there was no outdoor furniture, the braai is not joined to the flat but it’s a shared communal braai space a little bit away from the flat, the outdoor dining space was a metal table with no chairs that is also shared with the other guests. I would not have booked that unit if I had known the situation about the outside area. The description was extremely misleading and the price for 3 nights vs what we got was so disappointing. We raised this with their front of house who seemed to not really care, their response was it was booking.coms fault and that we shouldn’t book via booking.com because it’s cheaper to go directly through the property (I mean how must we know that). So the attitude was not their problem and we must deal with it. I’ve only ever previously camped at the baths so I am so so sad and disappointed with the way they handled that. Another note is that the room says it has WiFi. Well the only WiFi connection you can get is on the windowsill and then you only get one bar of on and off signal. We specifically booked the unit instead of camping because we had to work during our trip and needed the WiFi. So for almost R9k for three nights I feel like we got taken for a ride. If the front of house were a bit more accommodating with the mix up on the booking.com issue then I would not be writing such a negative review but their attitude was really just not what you expect for the price you pay.

Everything was immaculately clean. The rooms were clean had everything we needed good quality linen. Really lovely to stay there. I didn’t see any litter around the pools along the walks. Very well run the water is so clean the pools are clean. absolutely 100 reasons to go there.

Honestly there was nothing I was unhappy about. Perhaps they could’ve had a potato mash in the self catering but that was a small issue.

Spa and hot swimming great. Little store with basics you can use. Rooms are very clean and showers are hot. The resort itself is very quiet and comfy, there are regular campers and guests that are very friendly. The springs are super relaxing and boiling hot, it's a true gem. There is strict enforcement of the rules, so you don't have to worry about parties etc disturbing your peace. Security excellent. We stayed in the cabins outside, which worried me as I drive a regular car, but the road is paved and very well-maintained. Night is beautiful, with lots of stars. We had a few jackals sniffing around the cabin at night, and of course baboons, which made us feel like we were truly enjoying nature.

It would be good to supply the cabins with a braai grid. Service road also not in a good shape, but very drivable. Cabins are also very cold in winter, a rug would help.

Should have Solar lights by the natural baths for evening. The stove was very old in the chalet. Could be upgraded.

The temperature of the pools was perfect.

The stairway up to the accommodation. It made it very difficult to get our suitcases to our rooms. The rock pools had no lighting, so you can't access it after sunset.

The atmosphere was relaxing and appreciated the quietness.
