Panglao Chocolate Hills Hostel and Resort

Nicest hostel ever - but depends on the type of room. Amazing food and super friendly staff. Yoga classes, free diving, pool, ice bath.

The staff were friendly and helpful throughout the stay. There were frequent yoga sessions offered at the property, usually twice a day. The restaurant offered vegan food, which was a bonus for me as a vegetarian, but the taste was ok, not too bad. The location is not far from town, but you need to get a scooter upon arrival, otherwise, there won't be many options for getting around. Even going to the local beach could be a little difficult without a scooter due to a steep hill and a local road. The scooter journey was about 10 minutes, but I wouldn't try walking this part. The pool and aesthetics of the place look good.

I didn't quite like the apartment, as it constantly felt quite stuffy. it didn't have much ventilation and barely any natural light. it felt like a cave that I constantly tried to leave. If you're a light sleeper, beware this property is right beside a farm, meaning rooster sounds for most of the time.

Cleanliness in the bathroom could be improved. No air condition at the dorms. Location is not the best, not that many restaurants and supermarket around. You need to drive everywhere

The staff are very friendly and they offer several activities and they help you if you need anything. The location is good as well.

Starting with the room it is a real mess. the bed is very uncomfortable and keeps making loud noises. The walls are extremely thin and people walking outside or motorbikes are felt as if they are inside the room and this goes all night long, so don't expect to get any good sleep. Ants are in the room and they get easily inside your luggage. The air-conditioner seems to not have had any maintenance since ages. The sound it makes is unbearable. But don't you dare turn it off, because once you do so , the horrible smell will be allover the room. The bathroom is another story, The shower has no curtain or any barrier so expect floods after showering. the molds took over this bathroom and i believe the workers just gave up on it. you find it on the walls , in the sink and even on the faucet. The restaurant only serves vegan food, so there you can enjoy fake burgers with some tofu or fake scrambled eggs that taste like paper.

The place was very attractive and they have a restaurant area in the middle of the donut shaped pool which was sweet. The staff were sweet, polite and helpful and there is a very laidback vibe to the place, no noisy guests at night. The beach nearby was beautiful and reasonably clean, the hostel runs a beach clean up session each week which fits with their vegan eco ethos.

The food was great but the portions were a little small.

This place was amazing- food, staff, location etc. The vegan restaurant is INSANELY GOOD even if you’re not vegan. The huts are super cute and simple with everything you need. It has yoga and an ice bath as well. Would recommend.

The only down side is that it’s a bit noisy with the roosters and the walls are a bit thin but I’d still stay here again with everything else.
