Paradise, loved it

All the staff were unfailingly pleasant and helpful and Eleni in the restaurants was outstandingly friendly and helpful. The breakfast buffet was outstanding with vast selection and the quality of the food in the "best" restaurant was excellent although the choice for dessert was poor. The grounds were well-kept and attractive with plenty of sports activities available and the beach was close and clean as were the beach facilities. The hotel were very obliging in providing rooms near to one another and allowing us late check-out.

The description of the hotel does not convey the unsuitability for people with mobility problems and the elderly as far too many steps and slopes and stairs inside. The direction signage around the grounds is insufficient as is the lighting, especially where there is uneven ground and steps. The Argonaut Restaurant was disappointing in so far as several dishes on the menu were not available or poor substitutes and again the desserts poor selection. As one of the Leading Hotels of the World it is somewhat tired and needs updating and refurbishment in places.

The beach is really nice with plenty of sun beds and full drinks and food service at sun beds or in nearby cafe/bar. Views were great from our room, beach and most areas. Our room was lovely and spacious with a huge bathroom and comfortable sitting area and balcony. Breakfast was huge buffet with great choices and there were also pancake and egg chefs. It’s a 25 minute walk to the village of Elounda which has lots of restaurants. Staff were friendly.

We only tried eating in the casual Greek taverna but felt it was very expensive and lacking atmosphere. Food and drinks in general were very expensive. We preferred to eat in Elounda at night for variety and atmosphere.

Excellent breakfast As a very good location, the view is incredible. The services offered by the staff, both at the restaurants and at breakfast, were top notch. Among the best services encountered so far. The quality of the food is very good.

As a recommendation, I think that the resort should have, for the hotel part, rooms reserved for adults only. There were also a lot of families with small children and they could create a lot of noise caused by the little ones.
