"Wonderful stay."

9.0

The room was stunning. Very well appointed, stylishly designed and comfortable. Very comfortable bed. Lots of lovely touches, such as biscuits and sweet treats in the room, and a turn down service including hot water bottles. The setting is lovely, with beautifully kept grounds. We did the sunset jeep safari followed by dinner on a dune under the stars. The jeep safari was nice, but temper your expectations; it was nice for seeing the landscape rather than large amounts of wildlife. The best bit was actually seeing local farming families tending their flocks. The dinner on the dunes was a lovely experience, though very cold in January. Check in and check out was very quick and efficient, especially checkout, where we were sent the bill by WhatsApp the night before and could pay by credit card via an online link.

There is no wifi in the rooms - given that the hotel is very much trying to court the "influencer" generation, that was a little surprising - though our mobile signal was good so not really a big issue. We had a massage - whilst the therapist was very good, the facilities were sub par - a small thatched hut that was quite cold, and the noise of the (essential) fan heater was a bit off putting. There was no shower, meaning we had to dash back to our room swathed in towels and blankets to shower off the copious amount of oil that had been used. I understand that it is a deliberate policy to employ local people in the hotel, and to train them up, rather than "import" people from urban areas already experienced in hospitality. Whilst I completely understand and approve of that, it meant that a lot of staff had difficulties communicating with us in English. With time I am sure that will improve but in the meantime it would have been helpful to have more material available in written form to aid communication; for example menus, and price lists for drinks. All of that said, these are minor points - this was a wonderful stay and excellent value for what we received.

"Good but can do better."

8.0

1. Food was amazing and the recipes were different. 2. Courteous staff- amazing staff I must say. The most hardworking staff I have seen around. 3. Concept of the resort. Sustainable and truly natural.

The resort lacked activities. They can provide so many activities ranging from cycling to board games so some might feel bored. The food although phenomenal gets cold extremely fast due to the weather.

"Affordable luxury - a truly magical experience"

10.0

This place is a must stay, I cannot recommend it enough and wish I could have stayed longer. The owners have created a truly magical, one of a kind experience, all at an affordable price point. Go and experience this slice of affordable luxury before it is too late! The room was well designed and immaculately presented with boutique touches throughout including botanical toiletries specially created for the resort. Waking up and walking through the courtyard to the botanical desert garden made my morning spectacular. For under £150, in my one night and 2 half days there (considering I am travelling solo so as a couple some of this cost would be shared), alongside my beautiful room, I experienced: A botanical walking tour where I learnt how the local villlages survived and thrived in their desert surroundings. A candle lit dinner with musical accompaniment, tasting a feast of local produce, including that discussed on the walk. A private tour of their pottery exhibition of traditional earthenware sourced from the region. A sunset drive to a nearby sand dune with chai and biscuits. A stargazing experience, where I learnt to locate the North Star from any point in the sky, along with the historical significance of astronomy, astrology and mythology. A camel riding experience through the Oran lands, followed by a spectacular breakfast sampling camel feta and local honey. The morning of my departure I sat reading under a tree, watching dozens of birds come and go above me and desert gerbils popping in and out of their nearby burrows. A flurry of life in an otherwise arid landscape. The owners have truly created something magical, this is a stay I will not only encourage others to experience but one I will tell stories about. Spectacular, thank you.

Nothing, everything was brilliant.
