EKHO Lake House - From Colonial Bungalow to Royal Retreat

A very nice hotel. Superb view. Best sunsets. Only privacy is lacking a little bit. The food is very good. The service is very attentive. Especially Mr. Supun excelles in his position and even gives you a little Sinhala course.

Amazing location right beside the lake, with spacious rooms with old world charm. Cooling off in the infinity pool with such tranquil views was wonderful. The atmosphere is peaceful and refined, and Suresh and the staff are all very friendly and helpful. You are certain to enjoy this place in Sri Lanka.

Menu - my husband is vegetarian and on first look the menu was very poor. We queried the lack of vegetarian food, and was told that was the menu. After going into town and unable to find anything suitable we returned hungry to be told there was a separate vegetarian menu. Which turned out to be amazing. Carpets were stained in the room Felt it was overpriced Disappointing we couldn't go on lake, but that was due to floods, not the hotel

The location on the lake is very peaceful and it is right next to the ruins which is great-just a 2 min cycle ride. I also enjoyed the large room, the modern, large bathroom and nice shower, the service of the staff, and good quality food in the restaurant.

The bedrooms need to be updated - old, stained carpets and wallpaper. A staff member instructed some people who were not guests of the hotel to sit on the chairs that were part of our terrace and served them drinks right in front of our window. We had to politely ask the people to move. We had .massages in the spa area, which seems to be a storage room/shower room for staff. You are asked to change in the bathroom and it was filthy with hair everywhere, and then people passing through the room while you are half naked and having a massage...

Wow. That was an amazing 03 night stay in the Royal suite. Amazing services and staff will go above and beyond here. Entire place is amazing by the lake. Looking forward to come back again.
