Camping Pods, Carlton Meres Holiday Park

Camp was very clean and peaceful. A good location for exploring nearby places. Two large lakes in the middle of the camp if you like fishing. Dogs are welcome.

Showers and toilets are portakabins rather than a dedicated shower block. Disappointing that dogs are not allowed in the clubhouse.

Several geese had serious health issues which were clearly not be addressed and a wood pigeon got hung in a tree on the island in front of us in fishing line and we all had to watch while it died in a panic. It was hanging there for the whole weekend even after we reported it. Someone had blocked all three sinks in the toilet block on the Saturday lunch time, so to wash I had to clean one Sunday morning to wash, as they are not checked regularly enough, it was finally cleaned Sunday lunchtime.

POD was clean tidy and heated.

Beds difficult to make up, plastic cover on mattress. Facilities, showers toilets a short walk away, not good underfoot in bad weather. Male facilities could do with regular cleaning.

On a great park with swimming pool and fishing available, comfortable bed and table chairs. You need to take your own cooking and fridge or cool box there is electricity but no tv or fridge. WiFi is not free.

Could do with a more thorough clean, I appreciate that this is a step up from camping however there were lots of leaves cobwebs around the outside of building which could very easily be brushed off periodically and the inside floor needed a proper scrub I suspect it hadn’t been done all season.
