"Almost perfect"

The location is, from what I’ve seen, the best hotel location on the island. The view is incredible, the restaurant food good and the staff very friendly and happy to help. We loved our stay and immediately felt at home. The design is scandi and the furniture seems to be great quality. We’d definitely, definitely stay here again.

An issue across much of indonesia, and Karimunjawa is no exception, is litter. Although the hotel has staff who clean the main section of the beach every day, it’s still visible. Having a private beach for the hotel is amazing, and they have what could be one of the best beaches on the island. However, I’d rather share the beach with outside guests (who pay a nominal fee, like other beaches on the island and buy drinks etc) and therefore an income is created to help clean the beach more often and more thoroughly.

"A comfortable stay"

8.0

A relatively small resort in a quiet location overlooking the coast. The hotel had a really lovely family feel and the staff couldn’t do enough for us. Our room was spacious, clean and well maintained. We were given a simple but well prepared breakfast and an afternoon snack. Dinner was available on request. Our room overlooked the sea and faced towards sunrise.

Plastic litter is a problem for many areas across Asia and Indonesia is no exception. Staff made every effort to clear it from the beach daily however. Be prepared to use scooters or the staff can arrange car transport down town at an additional cost. There’s no public transport on the island.

"Breathtaking view from luxurious bungalows, service level could be improved."

8.0

* The location is just breathtaking. Amazing to have your little private beach, from where you can see the most magical sunrises each morning. * Bungalows are beautifully designed, large, and it's super to have your own terrace. Bed is comfortable and shower good. * Breakfast (salty option) very tasty and different options every day. * Afternoon snack and availability of free noodles, coffee, tea and water is a plus.

* Service level could be improved. Because of a shortage in staff (they need to clean rooms and be at the reception at the same time), half of the day there is nobody around to ask questions to. You simple can't reach them. They help you if you ask them, but it's not totally satisfying. For example: if you ask them if there's a supermarket close by, the answer is just "yes, in town". Not really helpful. Also, they drop you at the harbor (which is nice) but don't tell you that you have to collect the tickets first, at an office 500m away from the harbor. You have to figure that out by yourself. -> if this could be improved, the place could be a 10. It's the small things that can make a big difference. * Food: quality of the evening menu is poor and portions are too small (especially for the price of 70K). Snacks and vegetables are good. * Sweet breakfast options could be improved (only toast with jam/nutella) * Pricing: the tours they offer are a bit overpriced, as well as the drinks you can get at the reception (20K for a small bottle of coke). I understand that you need to make some money, but this is simply not fair pricing.
