Idyllic Shepherds Hut glorious views to South Downs 'Perch'

Perch was an absolutely beautiful place, waking up with that pond infront of you and the greenery was stunning and felt like a dream. The perch hut was cozy and had everything you needed, kitchen, good flushing toilets and a double bed with TV. It felt like a massive upgrade from camping but still felt close to nature. Mpumie and Mark were amazing hosts and made us feel right at home. We will definitely be back again- if you’re lucky enough to get availability to this place, don’t think twice and book!

Me and my girlfriend wanted a peaceful few days in a place that was cosy and offered great views and we got all of these. Mark was really helpful on arrival and we had two fantastic nights sleep waking up to great views of the downs. We will definitely come back. Thanks from John and Natalie.

Location is beautiful. The huts are super comfortable and have everything you need. It is so peaceful and quiet, perfect for a relaxing getaway. We slept very comfortably and the welcome pack was superb.

Secludedness

The hut was in a lovely quiet and secluded area with such a lovely view - the dogs loved long walk areas and running in the field. Geraldine and Mark were soo lovely will definitely be coming back !

Nothing it was perfect for us

First of all, Geraldine and Mark were amazing hosts. Geraldine was extremely good at communicating prior to our stay. She answered lots of questions and let us check in earlier than is standard. We were met by Mark when we got there who is so clearly in love with the place, the wildlife and is extremely encouraging of the experience of the guests. He regularly checked in, brought my partner fish food, gave us camp chairs to use when fishing by the lake and was happy to talk us through any questions we had. I couldn’t fault them one bit. They made the stay wonderful. We stayed in Perch hut, which was beautiful. A bit more secluded than the other huts, with basically a lake to ourselves. The hut had everything you needed for a self catering stay, it also had a bathroom in there, it’s small but that is to be expected. The bed was extremely comfy, and the terrace looked out onto the most gorgeous view. We saw a woodpecker who would come to the bird feeders in the morning whilst having a coffee in bed, truly idyllic. The fishing was exceptional. The fish looked extremely well cared for, and the lake is bursting with them. In a day and a half we must have caught over 20 fish, of all sizes. After a long day sitting by the lake fishing, we built a fire in the outdoor fire pit, drank rose and made a lovely dinner. The next morning Mark greeted us with warm rolls and croissants. I don’t have a bad word to say about our stay, it was truly fantastic.

Beautifully clean and well-equipped little hideaway for 2 and our dog. Geraldine and Mark are super helpful and nothing was too much trouble. Waking up to birdsong and sunshine and having fresh croissants (courtesy of Geraldine) on the deck with morning coffee was perfect.
