The Hidden House

Stunning property. Lovely sized bedroom with an onsuite bathroom and shower. Our dog was very welcome. Brilliant selection of gluten-free breakfast cereals available. Abi was very knowledgeable about the area and helped us to find beautiful walks.

Parking was restricted.

Comfortable, quiet, interesting host, clean, lovely breakfast and extras.

Everything you needed was provided by host including cooked breakfast for additional cost. A real home from home.

The location was great, nice and quiet. The room was beautiful with a large en-suite. Very comfortable bed. The rest of the house was very tastefully decorated and furnished too.

location fabulous as close to relatives. I loved being there alone.

Sadly upstair heating failed but this could happen to any one, host did all that they could to sort it.

We came back this year again and the stay was lovely. Abi is very helpful and a positive spirit (thank you for everything!) :) Bassets, they will ask to be cuddled all time :) Our room was very clean and well equipped and nicely designed. In the neighbourhood there is plenty of places to visit as well as pubs, Christmas markets and in Stroud the big market,well worth seeing.

I stayed in a large, luxurious room with a beautiful ensuite bathroom. There was a selection of teas, hot chocolate and a little bottle of wine. A very relaxing atmosphere in the whole house.

The only thing I didn't like was having to leave.

The room was a good size. The bathroom was a good size and well furnished.

Despite being portrayed as a legitimate B&B this turned out to be an unattended airBnB where the "on-site staff" mentioned in the description were completely non-existent. Neither the room nor the dishes were cleaned during our stay and we had to prepare our own breakfast from a poor selection of cereals, a sliced loaf and some orange juice. The chairs in the bedroom were very uncomfortable to sit in for any length of time and there was no sign of the desk promised in the room description. While the bathroom was generally well appointed, there was no light over the shaving mirror and the taps in the handbasin were plumbed incorrectly, both the wrong way (i.e. cold on the left instead of the right) and opposite to one another so that one needed to be turned clockwise to be turned on and the other to be turned anticlockwise. There was a strange, repeating "boing" noise in the bedroom which, while fairly quiet, was enough to make sleep difficult at times. There is no porch light (or, possibly, a non-functioning one) making it difficult to unlock the door in the dark as well as making the steep porch steps a little tricky. While seemingly close to the centre of town the house is actually at the end of a long, tiring, hill which is not very convenient if you don't have a car.
