Alur Beach Homestay

The location was great, very quiet, right on the beach. The room was spacious and clean

I booked with them because I stayed there in 2021. I remembered a nice, clean, new room right on the beach. If you book with them, make sure you get one of these.

This time I got an old, dark, not very clean (had a cockroach in the bathroom) room, facing the wall of an other room. Animals running on the ceiling at night. Tiles broken in the bathroom, dirt on the toilet paper dispenser. Bathroom strangely built and uncomfortable. No housekeeping between two nights. Staff not as friendly as I remember. They asked me to pay when I was having breakfast at 7.30 on the last day. Didn’t feel well taken care of. Because of all this I find the price excessive.

Excellent location on the beach front, close to many good warungs offering a wide range of eating options. Close also to shops, supermarket and ATM. Charming staff, rooms cleaned and swept each day, flask of hot water and tea/coffee making equipment on our little terrace, fridge in room. Adequate breakfast. Helpful with onward bookings (taxi).

Be aware that it is a black sand area, pebbly beach. Unprepossessing entry from the street.

For the price you pay it is amazing and it is right in the beach. You have everything you need. A bed, shower, towels and AC. Breakfast is included and good enough to start the day. People are friendly and through them you can also arrange taxi, scooter etc. You might even help them with it if you decide to so. Enough places to eat around. From places focused on tourists to small warungs where you don’t see any tourists. If you are on a budget Alur Beach Homestay is the place to go!

Only thing I can come up with is maybe some dim lights along the path you need to walk to the bungalow. Of course you can use your flashlight on your phone.

Wayan and Gun are incredibly kind and I felt right at home on the beach front. Wonderful falling asleep to the sound of the waves and although it’s a bit busy with boats coming and going, I’d book again happily.

Google maps have a slightly different location, so finding it the first day, we called and Wayan came and met me and directed me to the hotel.

- great location right at the beach, nice view from the room (although boats in front) - very kind staff, and helpful (sorted a scooter and taxi for us) - advantage to have a fridge - room was spacious and had enough space for storage - good bathroom with good pressure water - bed was comfortable - breakfast was simple but good (juice, fruit and omelet)

The air con was not very strong, would have been more pleasant to have a bit cooler air in the room. Suggestion to be more eco friendly is to not serve drinks with plastic straws, we had our own stainless steel straws.

Great location, lots of space and had huge daybed on porch facing the beach for lounging. Also very kind and accommodating staff, asked me when I wanted breakfast and brought it to my porch every day.

Strong smell of mothballs/naphthalene, that toxic chemical used to repel bugs, Im sensitive to it. Found one piece and discarded but smell lingered. A few cockroaches after. I’d rather kill the bugs than breathe in the fumes.

Close to everything you need, right on the beach, lovely to listen to the waves.

Nothing to do with the property but it’s a pebble beach and I found it difficult to get into the sea!
