James and his staff are wonderful. My girlfriend was ill and they let us stay longer on the day of our check-out. Much appreciated!

The owner, James, is a wealth of information on the are and a charming and genial host. The interior decor is a world away from the glitzy corporates that dominate the Mumbai hotel scene. This is much more like a home stay with some lovely attention to detail. The simple breakfasts are very welcome before striding out onto the streets of the city. The house along with it's neighbours represents the vestiges of a traditional Portuguese community dating back hundreds of years. There is a railway station a few minutes walk away, from where very regular trains run down to the historic heart of South Mumbai for a fare of just five rupees.

Like anywhere in Mumbai, there is some external noise, although this settles down by bedtime.

I loved the ambience of the house and its location within walking distance to the coast and interesting buildings, shipping and tortuous attractions in South Mumbai.
