Staff were very friendly. The bed was comfortable.

We had to use steep set of stairs to get in and out of our room. Our knees have not been the same since. The bathroom was not an ensuite. It was down the hallway past other rooms. The tap wear was rusty. The blinds in toilet were dusty and bin was old and worn. There were no hand towels available only a bath towel each, which we kept forgetting to take our bathroom to dry our hands. There was no door on the vanity basin area so no privacy while using basin for teeth cleaning and makeup was nil. Staff insisted we remove our shoes at reception and leave there, because the place was full of beige carpets. Also insisted there was to be no liquids in room however we need water at night in our room for drinking to stay hydrated and we were not prepared to walk out a long way to our bathroom and communal kitchen to get our water, in the middle of the night. The air-conditioning of the room was an outdated machine with a large silver pipe out back and taped into a window. We sweated all night as it did not work properly. Staff had told us if we didn’t like mosquitoes getting in, we should shut the windows. The HIGHLIGHTED, UNDERLINED LIST OF RULES, handed to us both to read on entry and made to sign was frankly insulting and ridiculous. We are in our 70’s and travelled all over the World and know how to conduct ourselves in accommodation especially private homes. Had we known there were stairs and the bathroom was not an ensuite, we never would have booked this place. Lastly, on our exit there were silverfish on the stairs. I was dreading they maybe through our luggage, so sprayed it all on our return home.
