This was the best ever room I have booked at this rate while travelling which is not a hotel. Unbelievably clean house, big and cosy room, a small cute balcony or terrace to chill or have a smoke. I was in Spain for about 8-9 days and the 2 days spent here were the best for me. I didn't find a single place even comparable to this in other places I visited in Spain. There was also a portrait of Amsterdam over my head, and since I'm from there, it made it more special

A little confusing to find the place as I didn't have the instructions to find the key

The price definitely... The friendliness of the owner who, despite not speaking English, was patient and did his best to sort out problems. It is quite easy to get into the centre by Metro, or even walking if you don't mind a hike (but well worth the effort as it si a good way to get to know the city). The flat has a nice small terrace and spacious and well equipped bathroom and a kitchen. There is a new washing machine and plenty of space to dry clothes either outside or on a clothes horse. The kitchen seems to have everything that you could want, including pots and pans, food mixers and coffee makers. There are plenty of things like fans (undoubtedly a necessity in the hot weather) around the property.

The area was a bit run down although quiet and safe enough from what I saw. I couldn't find anywhere that looked decent enough to eat in nearby. The room was windowless crammed with wardrobes and a bit stuffy. There is a small flap above the door that can be opened to allow airflow but ideally you need to keep the door wide open while you are in the room. As regards security, there is a latch to lock the room from within but when you are out there is no door lock. The owner provides a very small padlock to lock the room from outside. This wouldn't stop an even causal thief; better perhaps to bring something sturdy of your own.

Owner was not there, and he gave me wrong instructions on how to enter the property. Only by the. Kindness of strangers I managed to get in at 9pm. The location was far from downtown. I would not go there again. I had to beg the guy for instructions. Forget it.

Unfortunately if you are not speaking Spanish the exchange and communication is kind of difficult as the owner doesn't speak English.

This was the highest quality of the five places I stayed on this trip. The bed was the most comfortable one in which I slept all month, and the table in the room was actually large enough to use for more than the TV. It was nice being able to do laundry. The bathroom was spacious and well stocked, and the kitchen was roomier than the one I have at home. He even had umbrellas to borrow during the rain the first day in Madrid.

It's a little difficult to navigate to. This was the furthest I stayed from the metro. Although the property is convenient to the city, it's far from the airport and a 13 minute walk to the metro. At night, when I arrived, it was hard to find my way, meaning I made some wrong turns and arrived later than I liked in the dimly lit neighborhood. But if you are traveling by train, it's close to the city as well as the Madrid train station, which is why I chose it.
