5430 Happy Home

I booked this place specifically because it advertises itself as a quiet, peaceful hostel, and that was exactly what I got. This is a historic home and shows its age but in a charming way; the fact the stairs were creaky almost lent itself to the experience! Dee, the host, was very upfront about the rules (which are posted prominently) and was happy to answer any of my questions. DO NOTE THAT THIS IS A CO-ED SPACE, I knew getting into it but I appreciated Dee reminding me so I wasn't surprised. My two fellow tennants were quiet and respectful. There is a small shopping center and a train station within walking distance. I would recommend this to people who are also quiet and looking for a place to destress after a busy day in the city.

My only gripe was no free towels, but that's on me for forgetting to bring one in the first place. I just bought one at the local Family Dollar, tho you can also rent one for $5.

Location was perfect, one bus to Midway and another to Chicago. The host was super friendly and accommodating, and the house is nice.

Mir hat gut gefallen, dass der Manager (Dee) sich wirklich gut um die Unterkunft gekümmert hat, ob Badezimmer oder Küche sauber machen oder den Boden reinigen Außerdem hat es mir gefallen, dass es wirklich gute Regeln in der Unterkunft gibt, mit Nachtruhe ab 22 Uhr, keine Schuhe im Haus Das wird auch wirklich alles eingehalten

Nicht so gut hat mir die Lage gefallen, zwar nah an der Red Line Metro Station Garfield (10min zu Fuß), aber der Stadtteil (Southside) ist der sozial benachteiligte Teil Chicagos mit viel Obdachlosigkeit Außerdem hat mir nicht gefallen, dass es nur im Erdgeschoss einen funktionierenden Herd gab und ich, wenn ich kochen wollte, immer nach unten gehen musste Ein weiterer negativer Punkt ist, dass ich fürs Wäsche waschen 12 US-Dollar zahlen musste, sonst muss ich in Hostels so 4-6 US-Dollar für Waschmaschine und Trockner bezahlen, und hier das doppelte

Comfy and cozy. Second floor dining area great and sitting area clean as well. Came in late,.and was accommodated (pleasant Staff). This morning, bath/shower clean and in good order. Kitchen accessible - clean, organized and belongings obtained. Thanks for everything I needed for overnight. Great transportation, right at footsteps away. Good-going (literally).
