Ayana's Homestay

Idyllic location in a beautiful home overlooking the peaceful Pamba River. Plenty of space indoors and out to hang out and watch the world go by. Our host, Vishi, was incredibly helpful, friendly and informative, and generous with his time. We learned so much about the area, Hindu customs and India in general. Vishi went out of his way to ensure we were happy, offering a variety of boat trips and fabulous local cuisine, which was different almost every meal and cooked beautifully by the in-house chef. We had many dishes we’d never tried before despite being well travelled. There’s a pole boatman on hand to take you across the water for rickshaw rides into nearby Ambullaphuza and Alleppey. He also took us on an amazing sunrise boat ride and we had a separate 4-hour tour of the backwaters proper on a small motor boat. There are also kayaks available at the house which we made good use of.

Bathroom fixtures were a bit tired.

Bed Room (Not the bathroom), Beds, Location, Property in general, Homely feeling as hosts parents live there. Parents were amazing human beings and it was an honor to know them. But thats where it stops.

Filthy and poor design Bathroom with risks of guests getting hurt. Very Dirty faucets, mirror and broken lights and naked wires Very Poor quality breakfast with very limited options, Overcharging for dinner and breakfast, Scamming Host. - He scammed us for the boat ride and charged us 3 times for the regular shikara boat ride but in a local dingy boat with 2 plastic chairs. He actually charged us 5 times but when I confronted him with facts and pictures. He showed unawareness about the regular boats and charges and refunded some of the money. But by then our Alleppay experience was already ruined. We ended up coming to Alleppay for nothing, getting scammed, losing money and went back empty handed. Will not recommend anyone to come and stay here. Of all this, what stood out was the host's hoodwinking attitude, brazenness and straight faced posture about scamming the guests. Its like getting robbed in daylight.

All the food was incredible. The view of the river is beautiful the staff are friendly and helpful. The beds are very comfortable. They had a variety of boating options available.

There was no place to put items in the room except a desk. Could do with some hooks or a wardrobe for a longer stay.

It's situated in beautiful backwater island,perfect view from window,infront there is a beutiful backwater and behind there is rice,coocunt,banana,mango and other fruits farm.They will pick u with private boat to homestay.Highly recommend place to stay.Owner's family is so sweet and humble.interior of the house is like vintage palace.

Nothing

The host was very friendly & attentive. Nothing was too much bother to help us with. The canoe rides & kayaking were superb - why you come to the backwaters. The meals were excellent.

it is in the middle of nowhere and it is quite diffilcult to get to another place

the manager is kind of annoying, because he's around all the time, not very much to do
