Star Sun Homestay

We loved staying in this quiet and lovely place surrounded by nature and friendly people. We had a scooter so getting to town was easy. The host welcomed us really nicely, took to the beach to look for turtles, and prepared delicious fish upon our request:) the beautiful Tangalle beach is within walking distance and if you fancy a proper coffee there is a little pumpkin cafe nearby with best coffee we had in Sri Lanka! The place is rural so expect all kinds of insects:)

A quiete and cheap place. Its run by a family. They are cery nice. You can also have breakfast and lunch there for only 800 Rupees. I highly recommend eating there.

The rooms are basic. Nothing special, but they are clean. For that price defenitely fine.

A very welcoming, kind and friendly host. I had minimal contact with the rest of the family but lots of friendly smiles exchanged. The location is back from the street of restaurants and near a lagoon (10 minutes walk) so with this you get to see so many animals and creatures which for me was fantastic. The host kindly took me on a beach walk at night to try and see the turtles laying their eggs as the season had begun. We spent 2 hours on the beach, unfortunately no sightings but this is nature and there were tracks from days before. Think the next few weeks the sighting will be more certain- enjoyed and appreciated the gesture regardless. I rented a bike for very cheap for the whole day and went on a trip to silent beach with this. There are plenty of beaches to stop at on the way also. Rooms are basic and clean. In comparison to property around it's a brilliant homestay :)

A sweet family run place in nature at the Tangalle lagoon, literally feels as if living in a jungle. They greeted me with a tasty papaya juice! Beach is only 10 min walk away, there is a shallow swimming place away from the waves. Rooms are simple and have basic amenities. Beds have mosquito nets. Great local breakfast but it is spicy even when you ask for non-spicy. Fan's cooling effects don't reach the bed well through the mosquito net so it can get a bit hot. But it's a beautiful place and I extended my stay, the lagoon is a sight to see. There are many peacocks peacefully walking around. From the main road there are a lot of buses to Tangalle and other places, it only takes about 20 min so it's a great place to stay if you want to visit the town but prefer a more quiet stay in nature. Hiriketiya is also close for a day trip and beach visit.

Red chilli in my food even after asking for not spicy repeatedly... (I still ate the breakfast because it was tasty otherwise). It can get a little hot in the room if you're not used to heat.

Familly was helpful amd welcoming, stay was peacefull, surrounded by nature and rally close to the beach, just 5min walk. A little bit further from the town. Food was good and portions big! For this price i think that stay was perfect.

A great choice for travellers who love peace and quiet and nature. The accommodation is located on the lagoon, close to the beach. The family is very nice, they showed you all the interesting places in the area. The food is great, super home cooking. The room is also comfortable.

The only shortcoming is that there is no wardrobe or shelf to put things on. If there was there would be comfort

The family has been super welcoming and adorable . We spent the New Year with them and they offered some delicious food for dinner every day ! The room is super comfortable and the ensuite bathroom was clean enough. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone coming to Tangalle
