"Did not stay, walked away and lost my money with no regrets."

2.0

Arrived to friendy owners, however over powering smell of dogs, electric air freshener in hall trying to cover it. Booked under hotels, it an end terrace with one room. We handed key back and pretended we were allergic to dogs so as not to offend. Love dogs but with 3 bullies, it was overpowering. Lost all my money as would no refund, but don't regret not staying.

Smell, door, guttering, cleanliness. But mainly the overwhelming smell of dogs!

"A welcoming and extremely convenient homestay at a really competitive rate + lovely hosts!"

10.0

Andy and Debbie were incredibly accommodating and very friendly throughout our stay. Offering the ground floor due to our large suitcase as soon as we entered, I felt very well looked after. There were no unnecessary constraints put on us, and it felt very easy to come and go as we needed. Additionally, it was very easy to spend time with them both, and I felt very welcome in their home. The decor of the room was also very charming and homely. I was concerned about security, due to carrying merchandise with me, but there was a lock on our room door which helped to ease concerns. Andy and Debbie were regularly around too, which also made things feel very reassuring. The best part of this homestay has to be the location. Situated on one of the main bus routes to Southampton, very convenient getting into and out of the city. However, most importantly, it was nearby to the Oasis Academy which was hosting an event we were attending. No other option for this location that is better suited I would argue!

Having the toilet and wash room upstairs was a minor inconvenience. Had there been a downstairs option available, toilet wise, that would have been perfect. However, it was not a major issue as we spent a majority of our time out of the homestay. The beds also needed a little bit of getting used to, but I was able to sleep comfortably and I felt refreshed each morning, waking up before my alarm. Continental breakfasts are definitely the most accessible, but I would have paid for a cooked breakfast if it had been available! Ended up going to a nearby cafe instead to enjoy some hot food in the morning. The option to join for an evening meal is a nice thing, but breakfasts tend to be more my thing overall. This is purely a preference of course, so more a suggestion for the future.
