Casa Bonzay

Perfect distance from bus station, lagoon and town. Host Zayed was friendly and helpful. Self check-in meant we didn't have to worry about being late. Bathroom and bedroom had the basics. Bed & pillows firm (same as most hostels in Mexico). Air con is a must in Bacalar and worked well, as due the fan. The common areas made this a great stay for us. We spent early mornings and evenings sitting in the cool breeze on the balcony. Kitchen had plenty of utensils to prepare your own food, although there's lots of places to eat nearby. A bonus would be to have access to drinking water (even if it was user pays), to save lugging large containers and maybe cut down on plastic waste. We booked a boat tour with Zayed. He provided commentary in both English and Spanish and we had a great time both in and on the water. Tip: We found it easier to communicate by text or email so that both parties could translate before replying (our Spanish very poor).

The location was great- ~15 minute walk from the ADO bus station and 5-10 minutes into the center of town and the close parts of the lagoon. It was far enough from the busier areas that it was quiet at night. The owner was communicative and was helpful with how to access our room key for check in. The A/C worked well and I appreciated that the shower water did get hot! The shared balcony was nice and although we didn't use the shared kitchen, it looked well stocked. Overall, this place was perfect for anyone wanting a cost efficient lodging!

The bed was very firm. For a side sleeper like me, it wasn't as comfortable as I would have liked. However, for the price and the location, it was manageable for 3 nights.

Loved our stay here! We never met the host but they were super helpful, friendly and responsive over message. The room was big, clean and quiet, with free towels and hot water. We didn’t use the kitchen but it was very clean and well stocked. There was also a place to hang wet clothes outside on the balcony which was handy. The area felt safe and the home was close to the market, restaurants, bus station and the lagoon/ecoparque, it was very easy to find a taxi to los rapidos. We really enjoyed our stay here

Minor things but there was no free drinking water, and the restaurant next door played loud music one night until 11 but was fine after it went off

Ciśnienie wody w prysznicu bardzo słabe, deszczownica zakamieniona, ściany cienkie - słychać wszystkich sąsiadów, wąskie łóżko na 2 osoby

Tutto bene, pulito, vicino alla laguna, buon rapporto qualità prezzo, letto comodo, aria condizionata funzionante, bagno ok, proprietario gentile che organizza anche tour in barca della laguna a prezzi onesti, preparato e disponibile

Essendoci delle strutture condivise (terrazza, cucina) serve un po' di fortuna con i vicini di pianerottolo. Nel nostro caso una coppia di francesi che si sono accampati sul terrazzo (su cui dava la nostra stanza) sia la mattina appena svegli che la sera, per cui non ci è andata benissimo
