Kuttichira Heritage Home

Two nights in a beautiful property located in a residential area, with a lovely garden. The property also includes a historic 17th-century building, saved from demolition thanks to George and his passion for protecting Kerala’s heritage. I arrived late on the first day due to a significant delay of my bus from Munnar. Communication was easy and smooth, and I received a warm and kind welcome despite my late arrival. The room was spotless, and the homemade breakfast was excellent. I highly recommend this place. Thank you very much for your hospitality. It's a nice home. All amenities are there. The manager sanoj is really helpful. It's near the lake.

Nothing much. Only that this is away from the main town. So don't expect a lot to do after sunset. Keep all that you need with you before because there's nothing to get around.

Polite staff and the host. Nice property.

Rooms are quite small. Even deluxe king room is hardly 100sq.mm Bathroom was big enough. Location is a bit odd, mostly residential area. Have to travel around 2 kms for good restaurants.

The overall experience... It was homely peaceful and calm... Felt like i was in my village house... The owner was very humble and nice... Friendly... We had a traditional breakfast prepared at home...if in Alappuzha visit this place....

My stay at Kuttichira Heritage Home was nothing short of outstanding. From the moment I arrived, I was welcomed by an incredibly kind, attentive, and thoughtful host who made every detail feel effortless and personal. The house itself is breathtaking: a beautifully preserved traditional Kerala teak-wood home, around 150 years old, with sumptuous architectural details and a real sense of history and soul. At the same time, the comfort level is perfect — clean, modern bathrooms, excellent amenities, and extremely comfortable beds. I had the best sleep I’ve had in months, thanks to the total peace and quiet of the area. The surroundings are lush and serene, with a beautiful garden filled with coconut palms and papaya trees. It feels completely removed from noise and stress, yet remains very accessible. Mosquitoes were impressively well controlled — none at all in the rooms, which made evenings and nights truly relaxing. Breakfast was a highlight: a delicious, traditional puttu breakfast, freshly prepared and absolutely comforting — a real taste of Kerala done right. The host went above and beyond in every way. He organized a wonderful Ayurvedic massage at an authentic centre — very professional, well priced, and genuinely restorative — and even arranged a scooter rental that arrived just minutes after I checked in. Everything was seamless. The entire experience felt top notch, offering immense value for money, and truly stands out as one of those rare places that feels special rather than generic. While staying here, don’t miss: • The beach at Marari • Fresh seafood at Fisherman Cafe • A shikara boat ride at sunset — absolutely magical Kuttichira Heritage Home is a place with heart, beauty, and authenticity. I can’t recommend it highly enough and would return without hesitation.

The hotel/home building is gorgeous and it was just a 5 minute walk from the backwaters. We took a boat ride in the morning, which was arranged by the proprietor of the hotel. We found our stay was very peaceful and real value for money. Although the hotel only serves breakfast, we could have food delivered through apps such as Swiggy, so that was fine.
