Green House Yala

I had booked 1 room at Green House Yala however when we reached Mr. Santha informed me that the previous guest extended their stay so there was no rooms available at his Homestay however he managed to accommodate me at his sisters homestay which was equally good at the same price. His sister als was very friendly and down to earth. She made lovely breakfast for me - Fruit plate, string hoppers, black coffee, bananas, potatoes stew and King Coconut water. Breakfast was part of the package She made dinner on request for me - Chicken gravy, rice, 4 varieties of vegetables, papdam etc it was equally tasty and I requested to make it non spicy for me. Overall I loved my stay at her Homestay known as Vihaga Regency Yala.

There was no hot water however nothing to complain about since it was so hot in Yala and the Jeep Afternoon Safari called for taking a cold shower to cool down your body.

A good place to stay if you are planning on doing a safari in Yala as it is not far away from the national park. The owner has his own safari truck and we booked a day tour with him. It was a fantastic experience! The facilities are good the family are very welcoming.

The town/city of Kirinda is on the smaller size so there isn’t much to do besides safari and visit the beach.

Santha and his family were very nice, friendly and helpful. The room was quite spacious, clean and well equipped. Santha took us on a safari in Yala, gave us very good tips for our stay and made sure that we feel good there. I definitely recommend!

Beautiful and super spacious room and bathroom with cute balcony, Santa the owner and his family were so friendly, it felt like we were really welcomed. The house if very pretty, the view on the garden and rice fields as well. Perfect location if you go on a safari. Santa does safari too for a much better price than what we had already booked so it might be worst a try if you’re into these things.

Shower needs more pressure and we couldn’t figure out if there’s hot water or not. (I don’t mind if there’s no hot water, I just want to know so I don’t search everywhere) Still, definitely worth a stop!!

It’s right next to the yala Nationalpark so perfect for all kinds of safaris. In addition it’s really quiet and the whole family is lovely. Santha is an amazing host with really great experience in safaris. If you want to see the yala Nationalpark with a great local guide he is your man.

Great location for Yala Safari. The house is a 20-25min walk to Kirinda beach and less than 5 min to a shop with water, fruit and snacks. We stayed to do a 12hr safari with Santha the host which was very fairly priced and really enjoyable. Very generous breakfast and lunch on safari. Way more than we could eat. The room is clean and basic but provided what we needed. Lovely seating area outside the room to relax in the garden with some lovely plants.

The fan in the room is very noisy on the highest setting and not strong enough on the 2nd highest. Kirinda is extremely humid so a decent fan is essential. Of course the host cannot control the weather. Property was a little difficult to find as there is no sign but we should have asked beforehand for exact directions.
