Tajau Laut Guesthouse

Had a great stay here! The room was clean with towels, soap, and an air cooler in the family room. The sea was shallow and very clean, breakfast was tasty, and the pantry had everything from a fridge to a toaster and coffee. Overall, it was a lovely experience and I’d happily come back again if I visit Kudat.

The toilet was clean but had a bit of a smell, maybe because of the piping. It would be great if the owner could add some air freshener in toilet to make it more smells good. The road to the place was also quite tricky since Google Maps directed us through an alternative route.

The surrounding could use some cleaning especially the bushes, I am scared of poisonous. But the bushes did summon a monitor lizard.

the socket in my room is not functioning, recommend to add some fan at dinning area.

We loved the experience of being close to the sea and staying at a rustic wooden structure. We liked going back to the basics - no aircon, no hot shower. We thought the owners were also kind and they demonstrated grace when the electricity went off and we didnt have it for a couple of hours and the establishment also ran out of water. It was a very authentic experience. The owner also gave us clesr instructions on which road to access the accommodation.

The grounds were so close to the sea and we didnt really feel invited to enter the water.

The chalet is spacious and by the seaside though no beach. Can see the sunrise from the verandah Nd window. Can hear the waves splashing on the shore. Cool at night without air-conditioning only the fan.

The bathroom has not water heater to shower.

The rooms are literally oceanfront, you could not stay any closer to the ocean if you tried. The staff were lovely and provided us with breakfast and dinner daily. A short 15 minute trip to town. The fridge provided was great for storing food and the kitchen facilities were also great. Highly recommend this stay.

Amazing location overlooking the sea. The home cooked meals were fabulous (small extra charge well worth it). Scuba trip was great with the owner who is working really hard to re-establish the reef. Hired a canoe for a very generous rate.

Lots of platic bottles on back of the beach (definately not the fault of the owner) My wife was not keen on the large gecko in the bathroom - but to be expected in rural setting.

The guesthouse owners were kind enough to provide us with rooms that overlooked the sea, allowing for a refreshing breeze during the night. I was pleasantly surprised to find that this type of guesthouse also featured a spacious and immaculate bathroom. The overall environment is quite comfortable. Furthermore, our host provided excellent service.

The mattress, pillow, and blanket appear to be somewhat aged. Additionally, the flooring in the room gives the impression of being unstable. I would suggest repairing the floor in that room, as it seems to be structurally compromised. Following the repair, perhaps consider installing a board over the floor, and subsequently, applying a vinyl flooring layer.
