Alencherry plantation homestay

Very lovely hosts did their very best to make our stay easy and comfortable. They helped us organise activities for the day and prepared delicious homemade breakfast and dinners. Good spacious room.

Nothing, though very windy roads to get to property

Beautiful plantation home with large bedrooms and bathrooms giving a feeling of space and tranquility. The house is 5km out of Kumily so an oasis of calm. Our hosts were so kind and accommodating and always looking to help .

Nothing not to like

We were welcomed in the beautiful home of Mrs. Lizzie and Mr. Antony in a very warm and welcoming manner. The house is surrounded by lush green and creates a very calming atmosphere. Rooms were spacious, comfortable and very clean. The food served at breakfast and dinner was delicious and plentiful. Mrs. Lizzie and Mr. Antony were happy to help us in any matter. Thank you very much for an exemplary hospitality. We would love to come back.

Lizzy and Antony were great hosts to us! We had an amazing cuisine and cultural experience in Thekkady, thanks to them! They helped us with securing tickets to kathakali, local martial art show, tea plantation & spice tour, and Kerala Ayurvedic massage. The house is beautiful and is located amidst cardamom plantations. The rooms are large with comfortable beds and balcony overlooking the plantations. We will definitely come back! Thank you!

I might have just stayed in the best guesthouse in my entire life. I felt home, but also benefited from the services of the most refined hotels. The food was simply delicious, homemade and almost entirely coming from the house’s garden. Lizzy and Anthony are the kindest hosts I have met so far in India, they took care of everything single detail of my stay as if I were their daughter. Please come and stay at their home, it’s an experience everybody should live at least once in Kerala.

Our hosts were really welcoming and accommodating- they stayed up beyond 11 for us and offered us delicious food. They provided extra facilities to make our stay as comfortable as possible and were so very generous with their time and interest in us.

the location was utterly fabulous in a pepper and cardamom plantation. It was run by a very sweet couple who treated us like family. the rooms were large and spacious and very clean. all amenities were provided for. also as mentioned the family really treated us like their family and that was very special. the rooms with the balcony which we used were very lovely overlooking the plantation and trees. the bird calls and birds were also spectacular.

Very friendly hosts, very welcoming, made us feel at home. Great location, great food and a wonderful opportunity to see local lifestyle. Also helped us to get some local produce after the shops had closed.

Each spacious room has a balcony from which you look out over an immaculately tended, highly diverse botanical garden and into a plantation of cardamom and pepper that is topped by trees, making it look like a lush tropical forest. From the back deck we heard the calls and songs of many species of birds. Antony arranged transportation and trips for us to the nearby Periyar Tiger Reserve and a local tea planation and factory. He personally gave us a tour of the Alencherry Plantation. Antony's wife Lizzie made the plantation a welcoming, comfortable home. Each meal was carefully prepared, unique and delicious. By the end of our stay, we had experienced a wide range of the excellent meals found in the Western Ghats. We were sad to leave the plantation because there was so much more that we could have learned and explored in this area, and especially because of the graciousness of our hosts. We remember them as friends.
