Hotel Suraj

Staying at Hotel Suraj was honestly one of the best decisions I made during my trip to Jaisalmer. It felt like stepping back in time and becoming a Maharaja! The room was by far the most beautiful I have ever stayed in, with its stunning traditional architecture and authentic haveli charm. The hospitality was exceptional. The people here were sweet, and genuinely helpful. It felt more like staying in a home than a hotel, with personalized attention and a sense of warmth that made the experience unforgettable. If you’re looking for a place that offers a blend of history, beauty, and heartfelt hospitality, Hotel Suraj is a must stay!

Absolutely loved my stay at Hotel Suraj, so much so that I booked a second night. The house only has 4 guest rooms and you can see a lot of the original decor and artwork - the house is from the 15th century. This is not a classic hotel but a true heritage stay and I loved it! I stayed at both the king's and the queen's room - I preferred the latter as it is so spacious and airy but both are stunning in their own right. The family at Suraj is incredibly attentive and will gladly show you around the fort. I felt safe and so well taken care of, important to me as a woman traveling on her own.

I am not a big breakfast person so I didn't mind but the breakfast is limited. I liked the Indian breakfast but can imagine some people may want something bigger or prefer options.

I loved the aesthetics of the heritage haveli. We had a great view. An entire section in the topmost floor was provided to us. The owners themselves manage the place. Extremely helpful with travel and shopping suggestions. Very caring in their services.

The toilet and bath were not very comfortable. Cramped in space. It was quite clean and hygienic however.

They were incredibly welcoming and friendly. Very helpful and the free tour of the fort was great and very informative. The room was great! Large and a phenomenal view over the city.... You can also access the roof for a 360 view... I can't imagine there being a better place to stay. They gave us local recommendations and were always asking how they could help us (another tea/coffee, more water? Etc). Thank you so much!

The family running the hotel were the most welcoming people! Friendly, helpful and always trying to make the best out of the experience. Staying at the haveli is a must, a truly lovely place to see the sunset and sunrise. And Indian breakfast was delicious!

The property is located inside the fort and it is a 500 year old house. The rooms are wide and have been kept their original look. The family managing the structure is kind and polite, always ready to help you with suggestions or booking services. Perfect stay in Jaisalmer!

Perfect accommodation Ideal location, right in the center of the old town. The room was large, very clean and we had everything we needed to stay. The service was top notch. We were given a tour of the old town, the tour was included in the room rate. Everyone was very friendly and answered all our questions that we had. We recommend staying at this hotel

I liked the decor I first saw in the pictures, and that's why I booked it. It does, however, look slightly different; the walls are dirty , and it's not due to their age. The room was very spacious. The owners are friendly.

The location; right on the walking/ motorbike path so you hear everything, as there are no proper windows( wooden shutters). Breakfast was super modest, and the coffee was instant. At this price any other place would offer a luscious buffet with other fringes. There is no proper spot to sit and enjoy your meal. Rooftop if not adjusted to hang outs .Basically, you pay here for the house's history and an old vibe. Nothing else. I also got quoted way too much for an airport taxi, which was almost triple to what Uber offers. For that money I would not do it again. But that's my personal opinion.

We loved everything about this gorgeous property. This was a birthday surprise and it did not disappoint. The Maharajah room was authentic and stunning. The family who own and operate the property are extremely thoughtful (they surprised my husband with a birthday cake 😍) and are wonderful custodians. They happily showed us around their home town which gave us a lovely insight into life within the fort.
