Hotel Suraj

The location and the service were great. The room (king room) was amazing, I think that I have never slept in such a beautiful place before.Very nice host who prepared delicious vegan breakfast and lunch, and provided very good tips for Jaisalmer.

A very unique and beautiful experience staying in one of the oldest Haveli’s within Jaisalmer Fort. The whole family make you feel so welcome and even gave us a really interesting tour of the fort. There is so much history within the building itself which is an amazing feeling. We stayed in the Kings room which is where the king would come to conduct his business. You can only imagine all the important decisions made in the room you’re sleeping in. Incredible.

Where to start...we liked every single moment we spent in this wonderful haveli located right in the middle of the Jailsamer old Fort. The family that owned the palace for generations and generations is kind and always ready to help and explain anything you might have questions about. Shubham took us on a long city tour out of courtesy, the best city tour I ever had!!!

Absolutely beautiful Haveli within the old fort city. Beautifully appointed rooms with stunning views across Jaisalmer. Kind friendly family hosts who can assist with sunset desert tour and everything you may need for the perfect stay in Jaisalmer. Highly recommend. My favourite place in 3.5 weeks travel in India.

The history in this Haveli is incredible. You can see it wherever you go, in the carvings, in the steps polished by centuries of use. It is also great to see grandfather, father and now son in the building. The son, Shubham, took us on a personal guided tour of the fort, which was very interesting and informative. His passion for the family hotel and the fort as a whole is very real and it shows. Shubham's father is the ultimate host. He just could not do enough to make our stay a memorable one. In short, it is a lovely hotel and well worth visiting.

Great place, great people. Very helpful. You stay in a 500 year old family house which feels like a fairy tale.

Tasty Indian breakfast. Hospitality of the owner and many good tips from his part. It's a family house and you really feel like a part of a family. Very nice people and the room was like for royalty.

Everything was great

500 year old Haveli in the heart of the Jaisalmer fort. The same family has lived there all these years. Haveli is incredibly beautiful, with frescoes, wood and stone carvings. Everything is clean, all the facilities are present. The shower is pretty good, being in a desert it's nice to take a few times a day. Service is super friendly, it feels like staying with a family, rather than at a hotel. Shubham gave a tour of Jaisalmer and shared the history of that beautiful city. I'll happily stay at Suraj again.

This place has an unique atmosphere and we truly loved our stay in this beautiful old haveli inside the fort. What made our stay unforgettable was the warm welcome from the family who also lived in the haveli. They were knowledgeable and could answer all our questions about India. We would definitely recommend this place and we hope to come back again. We had a morning walk in the fort together with Shubham and were told everything about the history of Jaisalmer. They also arranged a fantastic trip to the desert for us and as we didn’t want a camel ride we visited a desert village instead which was a great experience for us. This place truly is a gem 💎

Highly recommended. The authenticity of the Haveli and the welcomeness of the family. The son Shubham gave us a great and informative walking tour of the fort. They arranged for us an overnight stay in the desert with camel ride.
