Peak House

This home stay was really nice, the staff really friendly. Very secluded and comfortable. Really enjoyed our stay :)

Room was comfortable and clean, facilities to make coffee, check in flexible, friendly hosts.

Laundry service returned clothes still damp, for 600 LKR per kg we would have expected tumble dryer to have been used.

This place was so so so clean, also pretty quiet compared to other places in Hiriketiya. Just the basics but it has all you’d need for a vacation at the beach. No « cool surf-people » vibes, just lovely « have a rest and enjoy » vibes, which is a relief as I seriously can’t take the avocado-toast preachy digital nomads anymore.

The walk back is not well-lit and as a solo girly I was walking really quickly, even though literally nothing creepy happened. Get a pal to walk with you!

- A lovely family own this place and it shows. - Room was very clean. - Filtered water offered in communal area. - Bed was very comfortable and clean. - Washing lines available to dry damp clothes.

- Towels need to be refreshed and smell musty. Owner happy to change if you ask. - More facilities should be offered in the room itself, like toiletries. - No local shops nearby, have to walk to town each time. - Bathroom needs an extractor fan. Slight smell of damp but will definitely get worse if nothing done soon! - A little noisy (animals) in the early hours of the morning. - No breakfast offered. - Clothes left outside to dry don’t smell clean, as the nearby properties burn rubbish at night and it seeps into clothes.

I guess I expected our room would be on the ground floor, in the building from the main photo. Room very basic, small and not offering much. I would be good to have a mirror, or other furniture, like comfy chair or bench to put bags on. There were 2 chairs to sit on balcony, but it was too hot and sunny there, and the chairs (those in kitchen too) weren't very comfortable

ants in bathroom, streets around the place are not really good
