De rust en de omgeving waren prachtig, maar vooral de hele familie die alles voor je deed. Heerlijk koken, de beste gidsen en de leukste programma’s. Echt een aanrader. Geweldig verblijf.

Murad really helped us in every possible way. He arranged two excursions for us, including transportation. He even retrieved the luggage I had forgotten, and lent us a headlamp for our jungle trek. He explained a lot about his beautiful garden and shared interesting facts along the way to our activities. You could clearly tell that he had been a guide before. And the soto ayam they prepared for us was absolutely delicious.

The shower was cold, though ofcourse in such a warm land, that is not really an issue.

Murad and his family are wonderfull people. Nothing was too much to ask. What a beautiful garden to be accomodated in, in the middle of the rice fields, super nice and quiet outside the hustle and bustle of Bukit Lawang but still super close with tuk tuk. We had amazing food and a very comfortable bed. Murad organized all our activities (2 day jungle trek, bat caves, landa river). Our transport to our next destination was also handled by them. We had good talks and received a lot of information about the history of the town and how too keep it ecofriendly in the future. A very big thank you! Trimakassi!

Clean, the staff, the landscapes

Perhaps a bit far from the main village, not that easy to have access to other restaurant and feel indépendant

We had an amazing time with Murad the host and Mizi our guide. During the day excursion, we saw several Orangutans, including both alphas. In the evening, we did a herping tour and saw 14 snakes in just 3 hours. Mizi is a fantastic guide if you want to do a herping tour in Bukit Lawang. Additionally, they have by far the most comfortable beds and a delicious breakfast with pancakes.

We recently spent a night at this homestay and it was truly an incredible experience. The owner and his family are absolutely charming and welcoming. The house is well-maintained, and the garden is stunning. What's special about this homestay is its location outside the tourist area, offering an authentic experience of local life. The owner is a nature enthusiast with many exciting projects in the pipeline. It was a delight to listen to his stories over a delicious breakfast. We definitely felt like we didn't have enough time and would love to stay longer. Highly recommend for those looking for a genuine local experience.

Wonderful Homestay

The Ambow Homestay is a very peaceful place with very very kind and generous people. I felt very comfortable staying here and would choose to stay there again when I come back. The location is very beautiful ... surrounded by rice fields and I really enjoyed walking to restaurants/places to drink coffee around ... or just staying in the garden/at the terrace in front of the room :)

Murad, the owner, is a man with vision. Many tourists come to Bukit Lawang just to spot the orangutan and leave again. Murad is very committed to eco tourism. He took us for a walk through the village, off the touristic path, and showed us many herbs, fruits, small businesses and handicrafts. He also organises cycling tours and trekkings. In everything service was amazing. Not only by him, but also his teammembers Midji and Padjar. During the trekking my muscle started aching. Midji bought balm and gave me several leg massages. Without that I wouldn't have been able to complete the trekking. This was just one example of the great service provided by the Ambow team. Tourism brings money for a few, the way Murad is working tourism brings money for the local community.

And getting to the center is a breeze with a quick bechak ride. I highly recommend a stay at Ambo—it's a tranquil haven with unbeatable hospitality. You’ll leave feeling refreshed and enriched by the experience!
