Munroe Coconut Homestay

Uni and his family were great. This was my first homestay and I could not have choose better. You are far away from your home, but they make you feel like you are at home. And the boat trip? Oh just incredible. Great place, great people.

Very nice stay in this peaceful homestay with delicious home-made meals. It is easy to discover Munroe Island from there and the boat tour proposed by the family was also very good. It was so nice to share some simple moments with Uni and his family.

No black out curtains

The host Uni, was fabulous, with excellent English skills, and a very friendly open nature. Him and his f as mily were lovely.

The food was not that great. They served a tourist version to us, which was really bland,. Having travelled in India previously it was not at all tasty, but interesting in that it was all local cuisine. It is probably fine for people who have never experienced Indian food before.

Everything was perfect. We spent 3 days and really enjoyed our stay. The family is so nice, smiling and helpful, and they serve such a good typical food from Kerala. Unni arranged all for us (train tickets, backwater tours to see sunset and sunrise..), and it was very nice and interesting to speak with him. Also the room was confortable and clean, and the place is beautiful and peaceful..

Everything about Unni’s family homestay was lovely, most especially his warm, knowledgeable hospitality & spirit- a natural host. Totally dedicated to all his guests. He gave us the best sunrise boat trip (highly recommend, starts off in the dark) & organised tuk tuks (place can be tricky to find) bicycle hire & yoga. The rooms were large, comfortable & clean. Outdoor deck areas welcome. The whole family warm & welcoming.

We loved our 2 night stay here with Unni and his family and wholeheartedly agree with all the positive comments in previous reviews. We felt welcome from the moment we arrived. Nothing was too much trouble and we were always greeted with big smiles from the whole family. Our room upstairs was spotlessly clean with comfy bed and a nice balcony to sit on. All the food is home cooked with pride and I’d recommend you find time and space for the lunch ! We ate all our meals here , you won’t find better. We did the sunrise boat tour which was beautiful and Unni arranged bike hire for us which was a great way to explore the island , walking is hot but you have a nice breeze with a bike ! Don’t miss a visit to the lovely ladies at the cotton weaving factory and the coir factory. Very hardworking ladies in small ‘sheds’ who are happy to see you and show off their skills. No payment asked but take some smaller notes as a little ‘coffee’ money is appreciated! Make a stop at the ‘Mocktail’ bar for a delicious juice. Don’t be put off by its rustic appearance! Unni is the best host, always smiling and welcoming. He loves what he's doing and it shows. Any advice or assistance is gladly offered. The boat tours by him and his father were sublime. The home-cooked meals prepared by his mother and sister were delicious and a showcase for authentic local cuisine.

Amazing place ! Little paradise on munroe island, the family is cooking amazing food, no need to go to the restaurant food is the best there ! They’re super helpful and organise boat trip for sunset and sunrise; stunning ! Rooms fully equipped, WiFi and I felt like at home
