Trinish homestay

The place was awful, Damp on the walls in the room i was allocated (Which incidentally wasn't the room i booked) and the whole place was in need of a good clean and redecoration, The only bonus was the bed was comfortable and there was a hot shower in the morning! The owner even tried to overcharge me at check in, I was a homestay for over 10 years and the standard of this place is terrible!

I liked the home feeling and the food was delicious! The family makes you feel at home. I liked the privacy of my room too.

The guest house is situated in a calm part of the town, not far away from the train station. I had the room on the first floor, it was bright, cozy and clean. There was also a kind of balcony. I appreciated to have a kettle and some tea in the living room on the ground floor. The accommodation came with breakfast and dinner that was served in the owner's other guest house - a nice opportunity to chat with other travellers. The owner and his family were very nice and welcoming. They arranged a tuk tuk driver who drove me to Adam's Peak for sun rise, he was also super nice.

The towel was wet and dirty, I think it was used. There was not enough toilet paper.

I didnt stay at this place as the owner also owns Shane's place. So a bit of confusion over a free pick up as taken by someonelse to Shane's. A friendly place and given free breakfast and evening meal, a beautiful view from the terrace over a valley with tea plantations, lots of birds the train runs by the house but doesn't run late. Can short cut from the centre up the train track go past to the cemetery and take the track.

Communication was a bit confused due to not being there to pick me up from the station despite being sent the colour of the tuk tuk and a pic of the owner. Could have been a lot easier to say someonelse is picking me up! But non the less had a good stay.

The owner is very kind and helpful. We booked the room based on the high review scores; unfortunately, the room we stayed in needs some improvements.

A bit noisy at night.

We actually ended up staying at Shane home stay, but they are both owned by the same family. The bed was comfortable, the breakfast and dinner were both really tasty. The views and surrounding was really nice. The owner picked us up from the train station quite late too!

If you are a light sleeper, I would consider either insisting on Trinish (not Shane) or staying elsewhere - the train line is directly next to the accommodation and woke us up a couple of times. The roosters also woke us at sunrise. Water pressure is quite slow, but the water was warm enough.

Wonderful stay! We were picked up for the station and met with a warm reception. We were actually invited to stay at Shane homestay which is where the host family live as they had a better room for us. This was probably a slightly better location and we had a beautiful room waiting for us with unbelievable views over the tea fields. We were given breakfast and dinner with the family and not charged any extra. We were taken in the tuktuk to Adam’s peak for a gorgeous sunrise and it worked out far cheaper than anywhere else we had looked. They also arranged for us to rent a scooter on the second day to see around Hatton. The host family would go above and beyond to help in anyway. Would highly recommend!

Clean, comfortable and close to train station. Host has a tuk tuk and can pick you up + take you to Adam’s peak for a good price! Room is big and comfortable, very friendly hosts with delicious dinner and breakfast. Would stay again!
