Tropical House Bungalows

The bungalows are in a great location, only about a 5-10 minute walk from the port. The rooms are clean and very lovely, they have a traditional Indonesian feel. There is a bar at the hotel, a pool, they rent bikes and the breakfast is awesome. You can choose from eggs or banana pancake (I think there is 1 or 2 other options but I didn’t get them). They also offer free refills for water (from a filtered water jug). You can also use their fridge to keep your water or any food cold. I can’t fault the staff at all, they were so friendly and accommodating. A special mention to Danny who went above and beyond to ensure we had a great stay and holiday. You can also book any snorkelling trips you would like to go on through Tropical House. If you’re after a cheap and clean hotel, look no further! Thanks Danny and all the boys at the hotel who work so hard to please all the guests- from Ash and Josh :)

Nothing! Only thing is there’s no hot water, but who cares- you’re on a tropical island and likely sweating all day anyway- the cold shower is actually refreshing!

The staff were very friendly, the location was great, they gave us great advice on activities and were very helpful. The breakfast was amazing, try the scrambled eggs.

Just the staff. We had many problems and they’ve always been very helpful and did their best to fix them.

Everything except the staff. The place was dirty, especially the bathroom. The bathroom was not just dirty (we were a little disgusted to use it, even the sink) but there’s like a worksite right next to the bathroom and all of the dirt from the worksite goes in the bathroom. Of course it’s not up to the property if there is work in progress but they should let the customer know because it’s really bad. Also the pipe under the sink is dripping and you’ll get your feet wet every time you open the sink. The first day we got there our bedsheets were already dirty, they immediately changed it and that’s positive but I expect that when you have new guests you check their sheets to be clean. The worst thing is an hour after they changed the sheets we came back from a walk and one of the pillows and a part of the bedsheet were dirty again, and we discovered it was gecko poop. At that point we wanted to change room but there was no other room. As I said, the staff did anything they could to help but unfortunately we ended up sleeping under this mosquito net that was the ‘best’ option for the problem. I know that animals can be in rooms in places like this but the problem is about the whole structure: the roof is old and should be changed (same for the rest of the building) so even if you keep the animals outside and they poop on the roof it gets inside. They have NO hot water and I think they should mention it like every other property I’ve seen that doesn’t have that as hot water is basic so if you don’t have it you should say it; if you shower after 4pm or when the bathroom is in the shadow it’s really cold. Walls are like paper, you hear everything from other rooms like people are with you in the same room. There’s no sea view even if they say there is.
