Trentham Gem

Location was great & the bed was comfortable. Bath was appreciated & the shower was ok. Bedding, bathroom, kitchen, carpet were clean. Neighbourhood was quiet. Quite roomy compared to some BNB studios as it’s a whole house. Parking is easy in front of the property.

Very tired & ageing decor. I checked online & the house had been sold in 2022 with the same curtains, artwork & appliances.It’s as if nothing has been done since, except the exterior has been painted. A bit of imagination would be good and sprucing up the curtains by replacing missing curtain hooks isn’t expensive - a pack of 24 is $1.40 at Bunnings. Filling some holes in the walls would help too. One piece of art came down off the wall in the hall during the 5.4 shake on the 9th Jan as it was just hanging by one nail & we were glad it wasn’t the heavy glass jar full of pebbles on the top of the cabinets in the kitchen! The use of wrapping paper covering the top of a chest of drawers is very dated. The backyard has sadly been neglected which is a shame because it’s shaded of an afternoon & would be a nice spot for outdoor seating. The roses were lovely. One hot plate doesn’t work on the stove. The aircon was appreciated but the cool didn’t reach the bedroom which was down the end of the hall. There was a fan but it took up too much space by the bed which was the only powerpoint in the bedroom & there was a trip risk if we had it on overnight. A extension cord would’ve been helpful here. The TV was a video conference model & the sound was pretty bad. The freezer was full of ice but there was no brush & pan, clearly showing a set of priorities which wouldn’t align with some guests!

I am grateful to have had an accommodation that served it's purpose. A lovely home to shower, cook food, watch TV and have an internet connection. And the bed was very comfortable.

Unexpectedly, my brother travelled early from South Island arriving at midnight. It cost $60 which I thought was over the top and expensive for him to sleep on the small couch. It was fortunate he is a little man.

Didn't have breakfast supplied. Plenty of room.

N/A. I would book in again if needing a place to stay in Upper Hutt.

Hard to find. Dam cold. No remote for the heat pump on the wall. Shower was useless No extra bedding and was really cold. Had to turn on the oven elements to get some warmth.

The location was good. The rooms were spacious. There was a full kitchen and laundry. It was great having a heat pump.

The bathroom facilities were looking tired. We couldn't open the from ranch slider.
