"Engaging host and communal setting"

It's more of ryokan setup. I liked the energetic host Yoko, and I liked the informality and good conversations in a very communal setting.

Kind of have to take some blame for maybe boring the host with technical (English) conversation. Two engineers will talk. And the beer. I found myself struggling to hydrate in the middle of the night. Wasn't sure if local tap water was fit for drinking. So maybe water in refrigerator would be useful.

"Comfortable and clean, a really nice place to stay if you're in the area"

10-15 min walk from Moro station. The Japanese style room is beautiful and spacious. The room and shared bathroom were clean. Free coffee, tea, snacks, toothbrushes, shampoo, and soap are provided. The free wifi worked well. The person who checked me in was kind, and informed me of when other travellers were coming. She also asked me when I would take a shower so that I could use it when I wanted, which was really considerate of her. Most of all, the futon was SO comfortable.

I worry a little about security. I don't know of any security measures that the owner takes to ensure guests' safety.

A lovely house and host, highly recommended. The location is certainly not scenic but I found this to be an excellent and very reasonably priced choice to explore the hills of Saitama prefecture by bike.

"Wonderful, but off the beaten path."

A beautiful little home, very cozy. Our host was wonderful and helped us out quite a bit. Local fare was excellent.

Morohongō is somewhat far from some of the things we wanted to see, and we were both under the weather, so we didn't get to experience everything.
