Just what I needed as a solo traveller for one week. The flat was exactly as described in the photos and in a great location near to the old town and shops. The owner was very friendly and helpful, nothing was too much trouble - e.g. she provided a corkscrew during the week when I found there wasn't one in the kitchen, and she allowed me to leave my suitcase in the wardrobe until the afternoon of the day of check out, which allowed me to spend another day out and about.

As other reviewers have said, the square below the flat (which has got a lovely café atmosphere during the day) is frequented by homeless people at night, even though there is a homeless hostel nearby. When I was there several people used to gather in a doorway near the flat and talk loudly until the early hours of the morning, which disturbed my sleep. But I know there is nothing the owner can do about this, it was a minor thing, and it didn't feel dangerous to come and go from the flat after dark.

central location, good internet for remote working

not enough plugs for appliances, a bit noisy as the windows do not cut out the outside noise, bed is a bit small

At the kitchen dull knives

Great location, a short walk from the market. You can walk to the old town and interesting places to visit in Funchal.

The window gives onto a square where all noise is amplified and unfortunately you don't sleep well. In the morning, even if Saturday or Sunday, at 7:30am work would start with renovation and also table placement. At night there is always some group of junkers sleeping there making noise.
