Shells on the Beach

The location cannot be better! You can watch the waves break from the couch in the living room! Just brilliant. It’s spacious, beautiful, clean, private and very comfortable. Wifi is really fast. Checking in and out was easy and communication from host was great.

This is not a dislike, but a word of warning if you have mobility issues: There are quite a few steps to get up and down to the unit.

First and foremost we loved the smell and sound of the ocean right on our doorstep. From our deck we watched the sunset while the braai (BBQ) was underway. The unit is well equipped with everything you need. It is spacious with the size is that of a large double garage. The neighbourhood is quiet and with a king size bed you can be assured of a good rest. The nearby Kwikspar grocery store was well stocked and easy to get provisions for self catering. We used this as a base to explore the area, including the Cape Recife Lighthouse, the Kragga Kamma Reserve and even the Sundays River Mouth (Pearson Park). There are also lots of walking and hiking trails in the area.

The beach was largely made up of broken shells for a long distance. (the name is most appropriate). A soft sandy beach is a driving distance away. At the time of our visit the tides were such that the nearest accessible rock pools were quite far out and tricky to reach. I had researched the area a lot before arrival. I suggest perhaps a file with tourist information would be useful as there are a lot of attractions nearby.

We enjoyed the proximity with the ocean, the appartement has a terrace right on the sea. On the overall it s very confortable.

The view was excellent and pet friendly. Full DSTV for sport lovers. Fishing near our stay.

The location was more than we could have wished for. We were a few steps from a beautiful beach. The beach was literally full of lovely shells. The veranda was lovely and we saw many dolphins in the surf. I have included a photo taken from the veranda. The unit was spotless and had everything we needed. When there was a bit of a chill, we grabbed some blankets to keep warm and they smelled so fresh and lovely. Elmarie, our host was superb, she was friendly and welcoming. If you need some beach time, I wholeheartedly recommend this place.

As mentioned above, the shower was imperfect but would not stop me from visiting again. The water was boiling hot and everything else was great and as I mentioned previously, everything was spotlessly clean which is greatly appreciated.

Shells is always one of my favourite accommodations to stay at, because of the location peace and tranquility. Being right on the beach is just absolutely fantastic. The rooms are super-spatious, each with fantastic views. There are more than enough utensils and appliances to make your own food (this is necessary as there are no take-aways nearby). We went over the weekend when the weather wasnt particularly pleasant and even then it was just so enjoyable. Thank you Elsabe and Elmarie.

The accommodation is marked as pet-friendly however after booking we were told that our pup wasnt allowed at the particular unit we booked so in essence the entire property is not pet-friendly. We managed to make a plan and actually really enjoyed the weekend pet and responsibility-free ;) .
