Diary home stay

The hosts are very nice. I felt very comfortable there from the very beginning. The room is okay, nothing fancy, but it was pretty cozy for me.

The only problem were geckos in my room. I’m afraid of them but they made noises at night and it wasn’t really nice. The host was very helpful with that too.

- Unfortunately, I have nothing good to say about this home stay after my experience with the host providing me with an unsafe room and then lying about it.

- Upon checking in, I was advised that the door to the room was broken and therefore didn’t lock. I was provided a bike lock to wrap around the handles as an alternative. I asked if there were any other rooms available as I wasn’t comfortable with this, because it didn’t seem safe and I was staying there as a lone female. I was told that there weren't any available and that ‘you can cancel if you don’t like it’. This was a non-refundable booking, so cancelling it would have meant losing all of my money. I therefore had no choice but to stay at the property, as I can’t afford to just lose money like that. - The door wouldn’t even lock from the inside, so I had to use the bike lock from the inside of the room, too. The host said I didn’t need to do this, but I wasn’t going to sleep in a room alone with the door completely unlocked. - I reported this to Booking and the owner outright lied, saying I was offered another room and refused it - why would I do this? I'm disgusted at how dishonest this host is. - The Wi-Fi was also awful. I work online and wasn’t able to use it 90% of the time because the signal was so weak and it would repeatedly disconnect. - One of the plug sockets by the bed didn’t work at all and the other one had such low power that it was unusable. I ended up having to use the one in the other side of the room. Annoying. - Cleanliness was really poor. They hadn’t even wiped the bedside tables, as they still had very obvious dirt on them. There were also tons of spider webs in the wardrobe, and huge ones in the bathroom around the tiles. - I had quite a few tiny ants in the bed on more than one occasion. I honestly don’t understand the high reviews for this place. I have stayed in far cheaper places across Indonesia (& the rest of Asia) and had nicer rooms, better service, and safer accommodation. You need to seriously lower your standards to stay here. Fortunately, I paid on my credit card so I'll be getting a refund through that :)
