Paradise Cottage at Anthurium Hale

This was absolutely a lovely place to stay! Starting with the lush and beautiful garden and the charming decor inside the cottage. The bed was very comfortable and I don’t say that very often! I highly recommend staying at this charming and peaceful property 💜🌴🐸🍍

Very nice cottage set in a beautiful garden. It's small but has everything you need. The kitchen is well stocked. Netflix available on TV. Location is in a quiet neighborhood, just 45 minute drive to the volcano (which erupted while we were there!) and 10 minutes to downtown Hilo. The host is wonderful. There's no AC, but it's not necessary with a lovely breeze through the windows.

We had a great time in Hilo! Jean's hospitality was the best, she provided so many amenities and even gifted us some of the local snacks. She also suggested recommendations of places to see and eat which were all great. The location was perfect for access to places we wanted to see. The bed was very comfortable. The garden was gorgeous too! It gave a great experience of feeling like a local on the big island. Overall we had a wonderful time, we highly recommend! 🙂

During the day the room might get warm, but we were out and about for most of the day. There are fans available if you find it to be warm, and usually the nights are a little chilly so having the windows open keeps the room on the cooler side.

Jean makes everything for the guest to have a great experience. From the decoration to the accessories in the house, everything was thought carefully to create a great environment. Besides that, Jean was amazing, supporting us with doubts and very comprehensive with an issue we had with car rental delaying our check-in. For sure, a great place to enjoy Big Island if you are looking for comfort, good location, and peace.

Lovely little studio apartment set back from street with a beautiful private garden in front of it. Well laid out and very private even with owner's home right next door. Bed was very comfortable and Jean, the owner, left us some treats, which were very much appreciated. Also has a small table and chairs on covered front deck for eating outside, as well as a hanging chair to relax in. Off-street parking provided as well. The property is in a residential neighborhood 10-15 minutes away from downtown Hilo.

The property has little frogs which make noise all night long (I thought they were birds at first when talking with owner upon arrival). Jean provides earplugs in the apartment for use; however, if you can't stand to wear earplugs at night this is not the place for you as they are quite loud. I thought I could tune them out after a while since I'm used to crickets, but I finally resorted to the earplugs each night, as did my husband. Our only other discomfort was that the seat cushions in the couch and chair in the unit have lost their support and you can feel the hard furniture underneath when you sit down.

Every day I walked into my room was like walking into paradise. The outside alone is worth the stay.Because the garden is absolutely stunning. You're within a 52 ten minute drive from amazing restaurants and all the shopping you need. You're also within an hour of the volcano park and an hour to the most stunning stars, you'll ever see. The host was absolutely wonderful, and she even told me about the eruptions when I wasn't tracking so I could catch them before I left.

Adorable private cottage with gorgeous flora & fauna which was the most beautiful that we saw on Hilo!!! Loved hearing the birds & felt like we were in the middle of the rainforest. Everything was first class & the host was wonderful♥️. She even provided local coffee & snacks!!!

Due to stormy weather, the wildlife went wild on the last night. Birds, frogs, roosters & even cats reacted to the change in atmosphere. Bring ear plugs just in case. This was not the hosts fault & was due to the weather changes & a storm. It only happened on the last night.
