De Paris à Kandy

An absolute gem of a place. The property is gorgeous, charming and has an immaculate view. The room has wonderful, lots of towels and all the amenities. There's water, tea, coffee and ice tea. The outdoors area is perfect with a lush garden, pool area and rooftop. The hundreds of fruit bats from the botanical gardens flew right overhead as we we're having dinner, so cool! Michael and Alex are wonderful hosts who couldn't be more helpful. The service level is through the roof. Michael even drove our tuktuk up the steep hill for us! Breakfast was the best value we've seen in Sri Lanka by a wide margin - pancakes, yogurt with toppings, 4-5 types of fresh fruit, avocado toast, scrambled eggs, coconut roti, toast, jam, butter, juice, tea, coffee... Best accommodation in our 2 months of travelling Asia so far.

Kandy is a very busy and loud city- therefore we were lucky to find this place, because after our trip in Sigiriya we wanted to have a little break with a pool - so this place was perfect. During the night it is quiet. During the day you can hear some cars, but in total a quiet place. Michael, Alexandra and their daughter Maya did everything to make it even better. They are so welcoming and super friendly people and gave us so many recommendations for shopping in kandy or what to see on our way to Ella. It was just perfect. On plus they prepared every morning a very delicious breakfast with a variation of fruits, eggs, bread, waffle or Sri Lankan breakfast, which changed every day (every morning we were pretty excited to go to the breakfast). The location is just 15 minutes walk from botanical garden and 20 minutes by tuk tuk to the city center. When you have the app “pick me” not a problem at all. The street to the house is very steep, but with little breaks or a tuk tuk no problem at all. After sunset you can see the bats flying over the house. I can highly recommend this place !

Very nice location, close to Botanic Gardens and it was easy to move around this area by walking and tuktuks. Owner family is very friendly and helpful, I felt very comfortable and like at home in their place :) I had dinner at the property which was really good! The pool is amazing, great way to relax after busy day seeing the city. You can see interesting animals directly from the pool which was very nice too. Room itself was very clean and very comfortable! I would definitely stay here again :)

First of all the best food we had in Sri Lanka, Alexandra is really an amazing chef. Both Alexandra and Michael were incredible hosts and very helpful. They have a beautiful house very well looked after. The location is great, close enough to Kandy center but outside enough to have the quiet. Great pool, good rooms. Absolutely recommend this stay!

The most clean and tidy stay during our whole trip. Very tasty and interesting breakfasts / dinners. Lovely hosts! Can definitely recommend.

One of the best hotels and affordable on the island! Clean rooms, fresh linen and towels, satisfying breakfast, wonderful view from terrace and windows. The pool is clean and refreshing. Perfect location to reach the botanical garden early than others and 20 minutes from the city center by tuk-tuk. Good eating out options nearby, ask host for recommendations. Very unique gift shop with handmade items crafted responsibly.

The alleyway to the hotel is quite steep and could be dark at night. If you plan to get there by your own car better do it in a daylight.

Chic and beautiful place run by the extremely nice and helpful Alexandra and Michael. We stayed one night in order to visit the Botanical Gardens ( highly recommend) for which it was superbly located. The attention to detail here is miles above what we have so far experienced in Sri Lanka. The pool was gorgeous and the breakfast Michelin starred! Highly recommend.

That we couldn't stay longer.

Fantastic stay near the botanical Gardens with a lovely family. The location is fantastic, and the facilities excellent in a beautiful building. We loved chatting with hosts Michaël and Alex and the rooftop terrace was great for early evening drinks. The pool was great too! The property was extremely clean and the hosts had thought of everything for our stay. Breakfast was so delicious and the hosts also helped us to research train timetables for onward travel. We would highly recommend this place to stay in Kandy!
