We left our bags in the main lobby/dining area for several hours before we could check in and the bags were undisturbed. The location was just far enough away from the Sa Pa town center.

1. The room was ABSOLUTELY NOT what was advertised. We reserved a deluxe bungalow that booking.com said would have a fireplace and three beds. In fact, we received two completely separate rooms next door to each other, but where one had to go outside to get to the other room. There was no fireplace nor a third bed. The doors to each room were locked by way of small padlocks. I was specifically not looking for 2 different rooms, but a single bungalow or large room that supported 4 people. Further, all of the beautiful pictures don't reflect the winter set up, where there is no where to sit outside and everything is rainy and muddy. And, it was a hotel, not even remotely a homestay. 2. The hotel was freezing. We visited in late December and knew Sa Pa would be cold. But the heaters in the rooms barely worked. The main lobby didn't seem to have much heat and there was a ton of incense burning, contributing to a smoky room/dining area. 3. The hotel rooms were dirty. The bed spread had several dirty stains on it that indicated it hadn't been washed. (The duvet didn't cover up the bed spread very well.) The bathtubs were scuzzy, like they hadn't been fully cleaned. But, the faucet to the bathtub didn't even go over the bathtub - it ran onto the floor. And the bathtub drained out onto the floor. 4. The staff were not very friendly. Only one or two people spoke much English and they each seemed very put out when asked a question. 5. The hotel seemed to operate under a different name. We reserved under "Youth Homestay Sapa" but the signs all said a different property name. We ended up leaving after only one night and cancelling our second night.
