Our stay at Sapa Hmong Bungalow Homestay was truly one of the most special experiences of our trip. We arrived early in the morning after a long night train, and Khan greeted us so warmly. The property itself is beautiful, peaceful, and surrounded by nature. Even though we arrived earlier than expected, they immediately helped us, showed us where we could go for breakfast overlooking the mountains, and made sure we were comfortable. That evening, we had dinner prepared by Khan’s mother. It was simple, home-cooked food, but honestly some of the best we ate in all of Vietnam. We shared dinner with the other guests staying at the homestay — a lovely family from France and another from England — which made it feel even more communal and meaningful. During dinner, Khan shared stories about their life, what it’s like to live there, how the house was built, his time at university, and about his family. It was such an authentic and generous exchange. After we accidentally fell into the river during the day, they kindly took our shoes and placed them by the fireplace in the kitchen to dry. That also gave us the chance to see the kitchen up close and watch how the food was prepared, which was beautiful in its simplicity and warmth. The rooms were comfortable and cozy, and breakfast the next morning was again served family-style and was lovely. We had also planned to go hiking with Khan, but the weather prevented it — which just gives us a perfect reason to return next time. If you are looking for a genuine, warm, and deeply personal homestay experience in Sapa, this is it. We felt welcomed not as tourists, but as guests in their home.

The family that runs this homestay are very friendly and kind. Will help you out with any recommendations, hikes or setting up rides from the town. The room looks recently updated and very clean. The sheets smell freshly washed and the shower is hot! The family dinner was great and they made vegetarian items for me. The breakfast was basic but filling. The place is a short walk to a small market for snacks and close to hiking trails. Rooms have an amazing view.

Overall everything was good. Only suggestion is to add a bit more variety to breakfast. Also the homestay is off the main street so you can hear the car traffic at times.

We really enjoyed our stay! The family were so welcoming, the food was really good and the rooms were comfortable. We did trekking during our stay with our host which was amazing- we learned lots about the local people and the area. Overall, it was a great experience. Would highly recommend.
