Extra care was truly taken at the Lhachik Guest House to make sure you had a great stay! If you want to rent a bike, the bike will be there whenever you need it. If you want to hire a taxi driver, they will arrive when you need them. Everything is taken care of and recommendations for places to tour are available if you desire. Highly recommend for the price as well.

"A great place to stay in Leh."

10.0

Lhachik Guest House is a homestay in Leh, run by a local family. It's in a good, quiet location, it has a great viewing terrace up top, the rooms are big and clean, but above all it really gives a great insight into life in Leh for a Ladakhi family. The owners couldn't be nicer, they're ready to help no matter what and, above all, they prepare some AMAZING FOOD for next to nothing.

Nothing.

"Can't wait to come back"

10.0

Nothing was too much trouble. Food was great, coping with food intolerances wasn't a problem. Great advice adjusting to altitude, hydrate, hydrate, hydrate (preferably with lemon tea or warm water), avoid a hot shower for 24 hours and take plenty of rest. Quiet location within walking distance of Leh market.

I thought I'd be cold at night but the hot water bottle was more than enough

The place is really peaceful and the staff friendly. We had high altitude problems and the owner took us to the hospital for free

In October, Leh becomes really cold during the night and in our room, electricity was cut off during the night so that we could not use the heater. We all eventually got sick and affected our trip

"Look no further, Lhachik is the place to stay in Leh."

10.0

Lhachik is located in Changspa, some 10 minute-walk from the Leh main bazaar, 10-minute walk from the meditatively inviting Shanti Stupa, 10 - minute drive from the airport. This home-stay amps up the quality of hosting by leaps and bounds. The family who run the guest house are the heart of the place. They can anticipate and address the travellers' needs in the earliest possible time - hot water, warm blankets, heater, hot drinking water, food, travel requirements, cab/taxi arrangement, local SIM card, and more. The most impactful aspect of my stay was the joy of having meals, sitting cross legged on plush settees, against intricately designed wooden tables, in their family dining room, which also has a vibrant local paraphernalia acquired over time. It's an open and clean kitchen, from where you're served hot roti, rice, dals, and my favourite, the chicken curry (beyond delicious) prepared in the local way. Living in the shadow of the pandemic, it was heartening to realize that we can still do this - enjoy meals together, amidst some chatter and warmth. Breakfast and dinner are usually at 8 am/pm, but you must inform them in advance. They have solar heating, which provides running hot water. The place itself is located in a scenic area, surrounded by fields of vegetation or fruits (apples, apricots) and the trademark poplar trees of Ladakh. On a clear night, the terrace provides a beautiful view of the night sky. Most of the rooms are spacious with long glass windows to let the sunlight in, ample wardrobe space, a mirror, and slippers/slip-ons, something one will find in almost all home-stays/hotels in Ladakh, so one can, at least pack a little less. My advice to all travellers venturing into the cold desert, be patient and appreciate the hospitality, in what are otherwise formidable conditions. Location - perfect. Safety and hygiene - top notch. Food - Healthy + delicious. Price - Better than you can bargain for.

Nothing to see here.
