Kashmir Homestay

The host were indeed GREAT! We interacted with the family and became part of their family during our entire stay. We had traditional Kashmiri food and we really enjoyed them. I could be the BEST stay near Gulmarg.

The location is right off the highway, so it’s very accessible when you’re going to Gulmarg. The place is equipped with a heater and the nice family of the host gave us a kangri, which was better than any heater. The best part of the stay is the homely nature of the place. The place is hosted by the family of Athar. His parents welcomed us like their own children, gave us chai and kahwa and helped us with everything that we needed. The host went out of his way to make us feel welcome. He even dropped us to a taxi stand from where we went to Pahalgam.

The place has frequent electricity cuts

It is very clean and adequately well stocked for winters. And it is bang on Gulmarg - Srinagar highway. The owners of the place are very welcoming and the hospitality was great. They take care of guests as their own relatives and friends. They are very generous and kind in helping out the guests to make them as comfortable as possible. They guided us in planning our trip to Gulmarg Also arranged us a cab ( at a great deal). The stay with them will remain a good memory for long time.

Not for those who would like to stay at Gulmarg

We booked the homestay at the last moment, but were welcomed very warmly by the host Ather and his parents. We had a nice chat over tea in the evening. The rooms are cozy, warm and clean. Even though there was no meals in the package, the hosts were kind enough to serve us tea in the evening and tea with snacks and boiled eggs in the next morning, which actually kept us running till the lunch :) Its a nice place to stay and highly recommended for below reasons (based on our experience as a tourist travelling by self car)- 1. Clean and tidy. 2. Hotels and accommodation in Gulmarg are very highly and overpriced- you get much better deal here. 3. Good hospitality by the hosts and the travel advices and recommendations which is very useful. 4. Its only 20km drive from Gulmarg, so no need to drive the hairpin bends in the evening or at night- relax and drive safely in the morning. 5. You get a good view of the snowpeaked mountains from here :) Best wishes to Ather in his career !!!

Newly built beautiful resort. Well maintained clean and clear rooms. Home made food is available. Minutes away from Gulmarg. Owner is caring and always ready to help at each step. Would love to come and stay again.
